Bo RichR&W Record Lions
What are the top measurements on Lion in the Roland Ward record book? I recently rough measured a lion skull at 27 3/16", I was wondering how it would fair in the record book? Also what area produces the most lions in R&W?

SevenxbjtI just looked it up on the Internet and according to the Rowland Ward website 24 is the minnimum and 28 3/4 is the record. I've never even seen an African lion in the wild, so that info is purely based on a quick web search.

shakariRecord is 28 3/4 inches
http://www.shakariconnection.com/lion.htmlAs to where the big ones come from, the book seems to show too much of a spread to identify one area or even one country as best......

Bo RichThanks Shakari. Was there a date on when the record lion was taken? I guess that 27 3/16" lion would score fairly high in the R&W book?

shakariThe record was taken in 1968 and assuming the one you measured had been through the drying out period and was eligible for measurment it'd be number 5 or so.
If I remember correctly, Lions from SA and Namibia are no longer accepted for entry.
