Mozambique Questions

Has anyone ever hunted with Mabarule hunters??
They hunt in the Niassa reserve.

Hunted around the Niassa reserve twice with Luwire. Have taken Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Buffalo are not huge here, although mine was 42. If you go be sureto take a red Duiker and a Suni, there are plenty.

If you like it wild you'll like the area.

I know that the Niassa is a big place. Some areas better than others, that's why i wonder about this outfitter.

I just have not heard much about them.
Might be one to stay away from??

Only know of one area (Nipepe) Mabarule Hunters hunts and this is about 170km south of the Niassa reserve if we talking about the same company is the PH Frans von Dyke?

A lot of outfits say they hunt the reserve but actually many hunt around it which is a big difference, particularly for Buffalo.
These outer areas can be ok for game such as Elephant, Sable, Eland and Leopard but can be quite seasonal.
Look to the south east side within the reserve for Buffalo.

They have donated a few hunts at our local SCI show. I was interested , but not sure of who they are. The quoted prices seemed too low.
Too good to be true, is what i was thinking

These areas, south of Niassa, are full of people who have lived off the land for hundreds of years. Their subsistance lifestyle has decimated game populations to the point where there is little sustainable game to hunt on a safari.

It will take years of extreme effort and funds to get these areas to the point where a viable number may be harvested. Some operators are currently involved in rehabilitating these areas, a fantastic endeavour, but a time consuming one.

Be very careful where you hunt and with whom. Stick to the well known guys.
