LR3Ammo belts
On my last two trips back from SA my ammo belts were taken. One time Inpection slip. Not sure if taken in SA or USA customs. One made in Zim with buffalo other made in USA. Probably best to keep in carry on.

Use Enough GunI pack mine in the TuffPak that has the vendor lock for that very reason. Just last week in Atlanta while returning from Africa, I was asked by US Customs during the gun inspection, what the belt was for. I said for my ammo, and that it was made for me by Jim Wear in Wyoming. The belt and the knife/flashlight/leatherman sheaths/pouches all have Jim's stamps on the back of them. I would be pissed as hell if someone had taken my belt without any justification for the same and would demand answers. Sounds like common criminal thievery by US Customs or TSA.

BuffHunter63I had some stuff stolen from my suitcase way back in 2002 at Jo'burg. Idiots also broke the lockrings on a very expensive suitcase.

SaeedI use the Uncle Mike's slip on ammo carriers, and leave the ones I use at the camp for others to use.

analog_peninsulaI, for one, don't believe we should use belt-fed guns on big game.

Tim FerrallA pair of vise grip pliers is all that is necessary to defeat the lock on a Tuff-Pak. TSA in Austin, Texas did that to mine, the jaw marks were clearly visible on the lock. I have also had Pelican ammo cases broken into in Atlanta and Amsterdam, and my luggage rifled in Bloemfontein. I am an insulin-dependent diabetic, which allows me an extra carry-on bag for medical supplies. I can put valuables under the supplies. Even larcenous public servants shy away from searching bags containing needles.

Use Enough GunHey jorge: Chris Sells at Heym in Texas has all of Jim's information. I have had belts made for my 470 NE, 458 Lott, 450-400 and 375 Flanged/375 H&H in ele, hippo, and two in my own rhino hide. The belts are nothing short of fantastic, and they have matching sheaths/pouches for a knife, leatherman and flashlight for each belt. I wish that I could post a pic here of my 375 Flanged/375 belt from my hunt last week, but I would need to send it in an email to someone for them to post here for me, as I have still not gotten around to taking care of the Photobucket issue as of yet.

If someone can PM me their email address I'll forward a picture of the belt for posting.

Regards, UEG

376 steyrI just use the small (belt slip on) type made for 30/06 size shells. The 376 steyr is a bit too fat(.501) to be able to use all the shell holders but it holds enough along with four rounds in the gun to do.

cal pappasTo combine price and quality, the slides and belts Tommymaker of Kansas produces are the best. I have discarded all of my leather items and have a set from Tommymaker from .300 up to 4-bore and everything in-between.

LHeym500If you are taking solicitations for a great belt that "should" not get confiscated, may I suggest the canvas Trader Keith culling belts. I have one for my 500. Love it.
Price I paid was one hundred dollars.

They took my M2 once. That didn't bother me, but they took the Jeep, too.

fulvioVery nice design and excellent workmanship.
Be forewarned: the items (leather) are all by-products from an Elephant's hide and the implications thereto connected are worth considering very carefully as the USFWS nut-jobs you have out there could and would raise issues.

cal pappasA beautiful and busty blond could not compare with the items currently on the sofa! Nice double and TK sling; and the ammo belt, sheath, et.al. are outstanding.

Use Enough GunThanks all. Jim Wear does exceptional work. By the way, this is rhino hide not ele. Taken from my own rhino.

Jim's stamps are on the back of each piece, but it does merit caution, as pointed out above.

Have back up paperwork just in case.
