PostDriverMap of Matetsi?
Hi, does anyone have a map showing the location of the various concessions in Matetsi and their relation to the rest of the area?
I'm heading to Matetsi 5 in a month (well, 28 days, 18 hours

) and would like to see where Mat 5 lies in relation to other areas.

PathfinderI don't have a map but wish I did but I drove along the border road between Matetsi three and five daily for ten days ending on September 6th of 2007. I saw many good buffalo and some great kudu bulls on that concession and that's just from the road between the two concessions. In fact I shot a bull buffalo within a quarter mile of that road in area 3. I think it also borders on Hwange which is a huge wildlife park with numerous elephants, buffalo, lions, Leopards, plains game, etc. You will most likely also see some of the very big Sable bulls that a common in the area. Overall I think you'll do very well in Matetsi #5.Good luck

billrquimbyI hunted buffalo, sable and kudu with Stephanus "Fanie" Pretorius on his Westwood Wildlife Safaris concession along the Zambezi in 1983. I later was told we were in "The Matetsi", but I would like to know what it is called now. Would someone help me?

GanyanaWestwood is now Matetsi Unit 7 - leased to Lovemore Chiota and no longer used for hunting.
Matetsi Unit 5 borders kazuma pan National park about 100km south of the Zambezi and 40km north of the Hwange Park boundary

PSmithNot the best map but this link has an article with a map on page 3; it does show Hwange and units 2, 3, & 4.
I hunted unit 2 last September and took a 38" buffalo, 40" eland, 52" kudu, and 30" waterbuck.

Thanks, Ganyana. Is there a reason it's not hunted now? The place was loaded with game, especially buffalo and elephant, in 1983.
