jkhunterBest Hunt Ever
So what has been your Best Hunts and Trophies in your hunting career,
This was a question asked to me by one of my good friend, he is a non hunter but loves listening to my adventures as well as seeing all the Photos that follow when I return from a hunt,
I though this will make a good topic and will get some great photos flying around,
I have broken my own experiences into 2 groups,
Africa Big Game
Worldwide Big Game
African Big Game was a tough one, I was very fortunate and lucky to have shot a 91 lb. Elephant, it was on the first day of the safari and was at a full charge but did not satisfy the true thrill of the chase as it was over so soon,
So my first spot winner for Africa is an Ancient Lord Derby I hunted in CAR, walked 208km before I took him, truly without a doubt my number 1 African Big Game taken
Worldwide Big Game was an easy one, I spent 17 days on the ice and after seeing 41 Polar bears, with 8 of them big males over 8 foot,
I finally took a 10.5 foot monster, after passing the first 2 shooters my guides started getting very upset with me, so much so that they had the elders in the village try convince me over the radio that I was a crazy white man and should just shoot the next good bear we saw,
The average hunt normally takes 3 to 5 days.
Hope this topic gets some great stories and photos going,
Regards

shootawayIt would be difficult to say for me because many come to mind. There were however a small number of hunts where there was a concentrated dose of hunting magic in the air. Most of my favorite hunts were small game hunts with one being a duck hunt.Of the three trips I did to Africa my Makuti double buff hunt was my favorite. The area and the events around the hunt made it really exciting. The shooting in the open too.

Bama15I would have to say my best African hunt was in '08. I hunted in the Sapi for tuskless and buffalo. It was my first elephant, first buffalo, and more important than anything else, my wife, daughter and son in-law came along. To see them experience Africa for the first time produced memories that we will never forget. Anna, my daughter, was on the stalk when I shot my buffalo, when we got up to him we hugged and cried like a baby.
My best non-African hunt was when I took my son and daughter to Montana for mule deer and antelope. I didn't even hunt, was the camera man. To watch them meant more to me than hunting myself.

safari-lawyerPretty easy choices for me:
Africa . . . self explanatory.
Rest of the World. A once in a lifetime Alabama whitetail grown on our farm.
And one for the yet-to-be-started "most exciting hunt" thread:

WV Hitman.475 Linebaugh, 26 yards. His buddy came after me and PH. Missed me by 12", knocked my PH 10 feet in air. A close second was elephant in full charge- stopped at 12 yards with Encore in .416 Taylor.

LittleJoeI will have to get a pic to post but with out question it was a mule deer hunt in Utah with my dad and grandpa. Grandpa had the tag and shot a 160" 4pt. The size of the buck did not matter. It was the experience.
His health turned for the worse the following spring and he can no longer go hunting.
I have a blown up picture in my office of this experience and still think of it all the time.

jkhunterAaron that's a awesome bear, I will be going back for another one either March 2014 or 15. it truly is an incredible experience to be on the ice in such a harsh environment. we did 1090km on the ice and was amazed at the skills of the guides,
