leopard- trail cams have come a long way
people look at the quality of these pics -

also this was one of those small cameras that takes a bunch of AA batteries , those big D cells are very heavy to fly with so this was a great option. i was blown away by the clarity

heres some trail cam photos taken while I was on safari with bundu safaris this year – who would have thought that this huge tom would have fed at that time- we also had two other cats feeding neither of whom were anything close to daylight hours , one was feeding between 10pm and 3 am and the other between 9pm and 4am , in ten days neither came at dusk or dawn and would have been a waste of time to sit on –

Here he is , notice the time of day and temp !!

He was a big cat

With a huge neck !

will ,
i just looked through my files and i must have deleted all the night shots , they are good but being infrared not nearly as clear - actually i think the cuddyback for night is a little clearer but in daylight these are the clearest pics i have seen.

I had 5 of the small ones in my 09 safari. I left them. They took amazing pictures and in my opinion drastically reduced the risk of taking a female.

Those pics are amazing.

Ivan,

Love the trail-cam pictures. Great reference for a taxidermist like myself. Even the tree bark and leaves are great to study. Now the size of the cat...XXL. liked that too.... DAN

I like how the meat scraps still hang off his claws.

Had some funny experiences with cameras in cam last season. One was chewed up by a lioness (Don't think the PH saw the funny side of it though. However with Duct Tape the damage we fixed ). First photos showed a cat feeding, then her get irritated, then approach the camera and finally a picture of teeth.
Another one was when we had a camera fixed to a pole and found the next morning that a Leopard turned it 90" around so it would not get disturbed whilst it fed .

Wow! I definatly need to get a new trail cam. I have on older type, and the pictures are lousy compared to this.

Thanks for sharing, and congrats on a lovely cat! Smiler

Sounds like he had the hunters patterned. Wait in the bush until the hunters leave and then go eat.
Seen this in mature bucks before. They slip out and feed in the middle of the day when everyone is back at camp.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Mine is a different make of camera but to answer your question, in general - the new cameras work just fine at night...

And...

Sorry to the folks who've seen these pics before.

Absolute fantastic CAT of yours Ivan!

These were taken by a Predator night vision cam. They are in order and the last is the instant after impact. You can see the bark chips slightly below the limb at the belly line and the exit is the blur right at his belly line.

Ivan, I understand from Steve Meyer that this was the area you previously hunted in Lemco now called the Bubye Valley Conservancy.

Hope this works.
