WOW - Buzz1 and Buzz2! Big Grin

From your post title, I thought is was just somebody like Federer or Woods who stopped by!

Looks like a nice time, good to see such happy faces.

Funny how everyone found some excuse not to shoot any of the larger calibers!

First rifle is a Blaser Match, then an M16 match, and an Accureacy International match rifle.

Bill,

Thank you, that she is.

We do get some famous sportsmen come over. But they prefer to keep it quiet because of the media.

Since his dad is deceased, that certainly would have been a special visitor. Too bad for Ross, he and Buzz look a lot a like. Eeker

I note that what I'm assuming are used as targets are images of pool/billiards balls. Is there a game of nine ball that you all play with rifles? I'd love to learn how its played. Especially like to hear how you pull off a 1-8 ball to the 9 for a game ended with one shot...

Hi All

That is indeed my Step Dad and my brother who flies for Emirates in Dubai and whom I am visiting en route to the States.

I am embarassed to say that I lost 10 Dirhams to them both in the shooting compo! As you can imagine Ross been a pilot and having no shooting experience and Peter despite been an Olympic skeet shooter and does not have a lot of rifle experience, are both having a feild day at my expence!

Anyone passing through Dubai would be well adviced to visit Saeed and see his fantastic set up. We certainly had a fun afternoon and also had the pleasure of meeting his charming wife and beautiful daughter whom i have no doubt will be future hunter!

SBT- I have shot a 600 before and will not make that mistake again!!

Reminds me of a story. Several years ago I accompanied a friend that was hunting elephant and a young appy went along on the hunt with us. The PH told the appy that he could back up my friend on his shot and that the appy was to take a heart/lung shot. We stalked in on the elephant and got 20-30 yards out. The elephant was walking from our left to the right. My friend took a side brain shot and the appy fired. The elephant dropped and we walked up to the elephant. We found the side brain shot, no problem. We looked for the heart/lung shot and none was to be found. The appy had missed "the broad side of a barn". As you can imagine he took considerable ribbing over that experience and I am not sure that the miss found its way into his log book. He was a great kid by the way and will make a good PH. I am sure he was just a little too excited and was using a new rifle.

We followed some elephants for quite a while in Chete, Zimbabwe.

We found them standing under teh shade of some trees.

We got to about 25 yards from the one we wanted to shoot. He was facing away from us, fanning his ears.

We stood there for quite a while, the he turned towards us, with his head raised up. I did not want to take a frontal shot if I could help it, so waited until he turned, sideways.

He did and seemed to be putting on the afterburners. I put a bullet through his earhole, and he dropped in his tracks.

Roy was trying to back me up with a heart shot, so he was leading the bull.

We found his shot had hit the elephant in the left leg, causing nothing but a flesh wound!

Walter came over, and I told him what happened.

"Roy! Is this your shot?"
"Yes"

"Good thing my friend Saeed killed the elephant, otherwise we would be chasing it with your wound!"

"That would have been a deadly shot. Trouble is the elephant stopped running"

"No excuses now! You almost MISSED an elephant from 20 yards! And you have teh nerve to laugh at me when I miss a pig hiding in the bush 200 yards away!"

Like all the Blasers I have, I got them all through exchanges.

This particular one I swapped for a Remington 700, costing less than a quarter of this rifle!

That was some great donkey trading there!
I would have done that deal too, as gun collecting includes "curios and relics."

BTW, Hessa is going to be a man-killer someday, with her looks, not guns, though I am sure she will be proficient with firearms.
