Andrew McLarenHe may get away with this trick a few times. Even many times.
But one day he will try it with an elephant with slightly more self confidence, and, bingo, Darwin time!
I knew - note past tense - a guy who regularly did this trick with lions in a private reserve next to Kruger National Park! Until,,,, well you did note the past tense?

Bren7X64That was quite funny. It would've been even funnier if the ele had decided to tapdance all over him, then I would have lost bladder control.
What a tool.

boerbokribSingita axes ranger for drunken elephant charge
http://www.news24.com/Travel/S...es-elephant-20130514Johannesburg - After footage of a drunk man charging a wild elephant did the rounds on social media on Monday, Singita, the reserve where the incident took place, launched an inquiry into the matter, axing a staff member involved.
The following statement was posted on Singita's Facebook page on Monday: "Very disturbing video footage in the social media arena has been brought to our attention and we are conducting a serious investigation into the background of what took place. The behaviour displayed in this video completely contradicts Singita's guiding ethos. The harshest disciplinary measures will be taken to address this incident."
Followed by a later update reading: "We have conducted a thorough investigation into the content of this video and the appropriate disciplinary measures have been taken to address this incident. The guide involved in the confrontation is no longer employed by Singita and further disciplinary procedures are in progress with regard to others involved."
According to LookLocal Marlon du Toit, a friend of the field guide responsible for the incident, posted a comment on his own Facebook page, agreeing that the behaviour displayed in the video is contrary to Singita's guiding ethos.
He later posted a statement from the guide in question:
"As a result of the recent spread of video content portraying a game ranger confronting a wild elephant I would like to acknowledge that I am responsible for the incident and sincerely regret my harmful and dangerous behaviour. I completely agree with comments that have been made about the unprofessional and unethical treatment of animals. I admit full responsibility for the actions and am deeply, deeply remorseful."
He added that he thought it was ridiculous that people were attributing his behaviour to the greater Singita company, and that he realised it was harmful to the company's reputation.
"The fact that the extremely good work it has done all over Africa is now being questioned due to the stupid actions of one person is beyond belief. The company in question currently conserves over half a million acres of land across Africa, provides 19 000 meals to school children daily and is throwing major resource and people into a host of conservation projects across the continent," he said.
He ended off his statement, saying that it was good to see that so many people were appalled by the type of behaviour shown in the video. "This type of behaviour is unacceptable because it is and you should be angry. I ask that you vent your anger at me and don't drag the name of an amazing company through the mud for something that they clearly had no hand in."

They don't still do that, do they?
I, personally, would have written it off as the same as standing on a granite hill in a thunderstorm, waving a golf club over your head.
The thing was certainly provoked enough.

You mean, running away from an Elephant and falling down? I think most of us are physically capable of that. I also suspect some of us are also mentally capable of this stunt!

We were in Zimbabwe, and stopped at a water hole which wasn't that big.
We were looking for buffalo and elephant tracks.
Someone mentioned that there are big crocs in that water hole.
Walter got himself a long stick, got the water's edge, and started splashing, saying "here here croccy, here here croccy"
Someone shouted at him and told him to get way from the water's edge.
We got up on a hill about 100 yards from the waterhole to have a drink.
A few minutes later, we counted several large croc heads sticking out of the water.
Walter looked at them, saying "Oh shit! I could have been their LUNCH!"
Roy said "you could always go down there and try again. Or better still go for a swim"
Walter said "No I will not. I am here to make life miserable for you and Saeed"
I said "and you are doing a great job of it too!"
Everyone was laughing.
It amazes me how many dumb asses start their sentences with "hold my beer watch this".
I would have cheered for the Ele

especially the ones that own guns!
I thought the voice sounded South African and a damn shame the Ele didn't turn him into toe jam, but then some idiot would probably have said the animal must be destroyed.
Good luck is what's left of thorough preperation.
Australia does not have a monopoly their citizens being stupid.
This great trait is shared worldwide
