Stansted to Heathrow?
Can I take the tube all the way? I have 7 hours, but I am carrying a big carry on and a big camera bag.

What's the best word on this?

The best bet is to use one of the coach operators. The Jet link goes from Norwich, Stanstead, then Heathrow and onto Gatwick. I'm sure there are other operators too.

Stanstead/Heathrow Transfer

Timetable

I wouldn't go anywhere near the tube if I was you. You wopuld need to change at least 2-3 times, and would be far more comfoortable and faster on a coach. It's always nice to have some spare tiome for dinner at the other end!!

Hope that helps,

D99,
I know that there is a shuttle service between Gatwik and Heathrow. The same, I think should be between Stansead and Heathrow.

Remember, in your hand luggage do not bring the rifle scope. In England is considered part of gun and for this reason is prohibited also the transport in the hand luggage.

D99,

If you are traveling with firearms, I believe you have to hire a bonded courier to transport them between airports.

Terry

Terry is absolutely right. The Brits will not allow you, yourself, to take a firearm from one airport to another. I got a ridiculous quote from PDQ Freight for courier services from Heathrow-Gatwick and back for my mid-July trip to Namibia via Air Namibia. (Wharton was unavailable, but would have been about half of PDQ; James Pedder did not answer in a timely manner.)
To save the cost of a firearms courier, I rerouted my US to UK ticket so I can arrive at Gatwick and let the airlines do the transfer (my travel agent confirmed that my carriers have baggage handling agreements).

I don't know that this helps D99 but I will be going to Scotland next year after my safari. A gentleman named Richard Whiteley who was recommend to me by Michael McCrave has a gun shop near Gatwick, is also a courier and will be handling my guns while I'm touring. The point is he will come to Heathrow, transfer us to Gatwick, store our guns while we are in Scotland and meet us at Gatwick when we return and help us check-in. This service comes to $280 which is expensive but way cheaper I think than the folks Tim contacted.

I have just now started organizing the above so I don't have the contact info. for Richard yet but will share it as soon as I have it.

Regards,

Mark

When im down in essex i only stay a few miles away from Stansted.

Fallow Buck is correct, the fastest way from Stansted to Heathrow will be using the National Express jetlink coach.

There is no tube from Stansted as it is about 50miles north of london. You would need to get the Stansted Express train into london, and then use the tube or the Heathrow Express train to get all the way across london. The tube will take at least 40mins from central london. The heathrow express train service is meant to take only 15mins, i personally say it will be longer than that.

The coach will be the best option by far, get on at stansted get off at heathrow, no changing trains, no hauling luggage around and it will only take about 90mins.

Nevster,

Thanks, I agree on the bus. Even though I am not hauling guns it will still be easier.
