When we moved from a 4000 sq ft house to a 1600 sq ft condo in 2011, the wife said some of my deer shoulder mounts had to go. I started with 7 whitetail mounts and 4 mule deer bucks. We agreed we’d whittle the number down to 2 of each species. I listed the mounts on Craigslist in Chicago and sold all 7 mounts for full asking price ($350-$400). Every buyer was Asian- 1 Japanese, 1 Vietnamese, 1 Chinese and 1 Korean graduate student pursuing a MFA. The Korean student bought multiple mounts and even inquired if I had any antlers. I told him I had a whole storage locker full and let him pick out any racks he wanted at $20 each. These taxidermy sales helped finance my first safari to Namibia in 2012.
