huntelkrcAnyone hunted with Thaba Mmoyo Safaris in Zimbabwe
We're looking at hunting buffalo, and perhaps hippo and crocodile next year in Zimbabwe and would appreciate anyone sharing their experiences with Thaba Mmoyou Safaris. Fanie Steyn is the operator I believe and they hunt the South Eastern part of the country along the Mulirikwi, Lundi, and the Sengwa Rivers.

FjoldThaba Mmoyo is a South African company and they don't list who their Zim licensed PH's are.
Are you sure that you want to go down that rabbit hole?

470EvansI have hunted twice with Thaba Mmoyo. Once at their ranch is SA and the second time Fanie arranged for me to hunt buffalo in Dande South.
Both safaris were great.
I would definitely hunt with them again if I was interested in SA but knowing what I know now I would book directly with a quality operator based in the country I was interested in hunting.

boarkillerFanie is as trustworthy as they come anywhere in this business
Hunted with him on my first two trip in Africa and as many first timers, I didn't do any research as I was simply naive
That being said, I was treated professionally and the whole operation is very honest
I hunted ele, buff, leopard and plains game and had not been disappointed
PH's are Fanie, his son in law Willy and Sticks, maybe others now as it's been several years
Fanie is unbelievably knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna of Southern Africa ( birds especially )
His ranches are extensive ( one of them we hunted kudu on foot and had to pack it out several miles as there were no good roads and very steep and rough terrain ) and full of game and concessions on buff and ele were at that time very very good
I still see him in Vegas when I go to convention
I'd say ,no worries, you'll be in very good and professional hands
His wife is Zimbabwean citizen btw
PS PM me if you have more questions

kallie404Just a personal opinion, I would think twice if a SA outfitter takes me to Zim and visa versa unless the Zim outfitter takes a client to SA after a Zim hunt to hunt species like Bontebok or Vaal Rhebuck for example. There are quite a few respected Zim outfitters available, why don't you just book with them from the start?
