N E 450 No2
Mark,
I recovered two 500 grain Swift A Frames from buffalo fired from my 450 No2. The SAF expanded perefectly and penetrated very well. I would not hesitate to recommend the 450 grainer for your 458.

Mark,

I have not used the 450 Swift in a 458 win mag but I have recovered them at up to 2475 fps from my 460 GA. In my five gallon water bucket test which correlates 90-95% for expansion and weight retention to southern buffalo based on George Hoffmans 416 Swift collection, they had excellent penetration but lost or fractured their front core 2 out of 3 times.

At over 200 fps less velocity they really will do fine. And I think the Remington safari ammo loaded with them is among the best 458 win mag ammo out there.

If you hand load Id rather have the 400 or 450 grain North Fork, but if you dont, it should do fine.

Andy

they are a bit over stressed at this but should be fine at 2250 fps from your mag.

I shot a buffalo with a 450gr. Swift out of the .460 Wby. in the Zambezi Escarpment a few years ago.

It was a broadside chest shot at the top of the heart. The bullet was balled up under the hid on the off side. I don't recall the recovered weight but it was pretty good.

I don't recall the velocity either but it was a warm load.

Kyler
