retreeverMost photographed person at SCI convention...
How many of you saw that African hunter escorted around the convention floor in white tights and a pink tutu...
The story goes this way, two brothers who are very competive went on an ele hunt and the bet was, Whoever won the bet would pick to embarass the other... Both shot eles and the winner's ivory was 1.7 pounds heavier...
I would assume we will see the brothers in SCI magazine...
AR member Bill in the Wild escorted the brothers
around the Sparks convention center...

yukon deltaTo lose by less than 2#...that's painful, but not as bad as wearing tights (at least, that's what I'm told

).

ivan carterit was too funny , the guys brother jeff stanley , hunts with rich cooke and wants to shoot 100 bulls ...they hunt together 60+ days per year ...
there was much bitterness and laughter (in equal amounts) as fate of the loser was first decided and then the ivory weighed ...
he got let off doing it every day and only had to do one day

30 January 2008, 05:22
BitterrootIt was a sight I could have done without.

500grainsOnly slightly less tasteful than wearing camo on the airplane.

30 January 2008, 06:57
billinthewildI thought it was fine. At times we take ourselves too seriously, and this guy had true grit to make good on the bet. The cameras were flashing and the smiles it brought to so many faces was great.

I hope he was at least polluted when he made the bet.

HuttyThat is absolutely hysterical. Glad to see that he didn't bail out on his bet and he has a sense of humor.

jbderunzCould seem weird, but what shocks me is the guy on the left keeping his hat on. Perhaps my Old European education, but keeping a hat on indoors when not a lady, a clergyman or in grand uniform is not done. Imagine he happens to pass a lady in this garb?
Or that's old hat?

Use Enough GunI and my wife talked briefly with them as they walked by and he was actually very talkative about it and seemed to still be having a good time, being a good sport about the whole thing.

Jean, my wife told me to let you know you are a true gentleman regarding the hat indoors issue. Can't tell you how it makes her crazy when we walk into restaurants or shops here where we leave and men are sitting down to eat with their low-life ball caps on. and if they are on backwards she really goes crazy. Well done. jorge

BlankYears ago, several of my son's friends came into the house with their hats on backwards.I growlingly "explained " they could wear them correctly or not at all in my home, or I would turn their heads on their necks until they did point the right direction!
To this day, none of them forget to remove them in my presence.

Guess being a crotchety old fart, with guns, does help sometimes!!!!!

We decided Europe had too many rules in 1776.

Seriously though as a hat wearer I don't really see anything wrong with a hat indoors, however it should be tipped or removed when introduced to a lady. Most of this would be lost on today's youth though.

I'd hunt with him. His taste in attire may be lacking, but his integrity is right up there.

I wrote this post just to be a bit obnoxious. Even here some youngers keep their caps on sometimes.
Your wife complaining is not a good example. She is so elegant and stuningly beautiful that men's brains turn into soft chees, thus this temporary lack of education. Just like a Royal cobra mesmerizing a game. Your blason shouldn't be an eagle, Jorge, but a mongoose.

jbderunzPreviously Ask Bill C what You'll sustain with us.
I am afraid that when seeing Your wife for real, no doubt my brain will turn into soft cheese and You'll be prone to shoot Your first baboon right in Paris. More vicious, I'll bring my wife along and she'll embark Yours and You'll be so dire strait that You'll shoot only one warthog and a baboon with the odd dollars saved from Paris shopping.
