SkylineGood question Bill.
For years I have looked for it up here in Canada. You can usually find the Amarula that is the creamed version..... sorta like Bailey's. Have never been able to find the clear liqueur type version.

Bwana1If your local store does not carry it, they probably can order it for you providing you order enough to make it worthwhile.
Remember liquor laws and inventory varies from state to state.
Bill, let me know if you can't find any and I will send you a bottle. I have one in a decorative canister I picked up in Jo-Burg.

On the shelf at any decent liquor store in SoCal. Not hard to find. Saw it last at Vendome on Robertson in BH. BevMo always has it too. Good stuff!

Is it ok if I borrow your thread?
I used to really like Pernod with 7up. Locals used to have it in the late 70's.
Now no one even knows what it is.
In Germany the guys called it mixed: "Paranoid and water or 7".
Yellow thick colored, tastes like black licorice.
Anyone? I'd order some IF I could find a source in the US.
Thanks much, and thank you Bill.

A black licorice taste might come from Fernet Branca.

BuffHunter63Back when I was a drinking man (I had a liver transplant in 2008), Maker's Mark was my favorite whiskey. I used to mix it on ice, with Pepsi (not Coke) and add a generous dash of Angostura Bitters.
That, plus a good book on hunting, sitting in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fireplace, made a nice way to spend a cold, snowy Colorado evening.
Alas, those days are over for me.

Yep. Prolly 100 Anise based yellow liquors out there. Galliano had gold flakes floating in the bottle, back in the day.

Yep, that's the one!
I seldom drink any longer but, sure would enjoy one now and then IF I could find what I like.
As a kid in the '50's when we had a cold the dr. would give us a 'cough syrup' bottle of nasty stuff. When I got to Germany the guys passed a big flat green bottle of Jaegermeifster around. I recognized that first taste to be the same stuff. Got to liking it in small amounts. Now I try to keep a bottle of that handy. Refill the little one I keep by the bed for a light sip. Sure clears the sinus's!
I thank everyone for sharing, I will take this short list to the local booze outlet and see if they have any of them.
'nother one I got to liking too much. Tequila/7. When I went back to trucking Tequila was my CB handle. Then later I started a truck parts and heavy equipment air filter route business and named it:
"Tequila's EnterpriZes". I went with the Z as a trade mark and because I was forced into the business suddenly and needed a name right quick. Prize's is gift in the dictionary. Gift in German means "poison" though!! Ask me how I learned that one!! he he!
Thanks guys, and Bill again too.

Tim CarneySpent a profitable hour at the Amarula facility in Phalaborwa on the north edge of Kruger Park March 7 with PH Eddie O'Reilly of Jan Dumon's operation. The facility buys in maroela fruit that people collect as it drops from the trees, mashes it and ships it off in tankers to the factory in Stellenbosch that actually ferments and bottles.
Of interest is that Amarula resumed making the clear liquer, styled Amarula Gold that was their original product, a product that did not sell unil they changed it to the cream liquer so many love. The briefing and DVD we saw asserted that 12 million liters of Amarula sell each year, second largest liquer seller in the world.
Calvert Woodley in DC carries it for $21/bottle or buy a case at $215...
Regards, Tim

Use Enough GunHere in Las Vegas we have Lee's Liquor Discounts, Total Wine and Spirits, etc. They are big mega booze stores with many stores and outlets, and I'm sure that they would carry that stuff. I don't drink, so I'm just supposing they would. Do you have anything similar in Arizona, Bill? If so, check them out. If not, maybe you can call one of the above and see if it could be shipped to you.

billrquimbyThanks, all.
A BevMo store in a mall near my home in Tucson had it. I don't drink, and didn't realize there were big box chain stores for liquor.
