Flip,
they are a very good bullet and perform as desugnedm with a perfect smooth ball type mushroom with a puff or swell just under the mushroom, allways the same, perfect except for one thing...they are too perfect...that smooth configuration seems to retard internal damage a great deal as it does not have the ragged claw fingers that one finds on a Woodleigh or some other makes..Those long ragged claws buzz sawing through the animal do make a difference on the lighter game....

By the same token the Swifts are a wonderfull Buffalo bullets for the very reason described above, basicall a big cross sectioned solid after expansion.

I have used the 250 Swift in the 9.3x62 and it is a good bullet, and does not blood shot the meat as bad and I like that, but you can expect a good run out of the animal and sometimes the blood trail is less than good. other times it is fine..the 300 swift is a sweet Buffalo bullet for sure.

For a 250 gr. bullet and light game I really like the 250 gr. Nosler Bal. tip for very good expansion and sufficient penitration, and the accuracy is outstanding. The 286 gr. Nosler partition with both good expansion and fantastic penitration the all around best bullet that I have used in any of the 9.3's.

Great caliber!

Ray,

I also used the 286gr partition, but recently wend for the sako 250gr powerhead (read Barnes)load. Would you have any records on this load ?
I have used it successfully only on 16 animals and these were light game.

Swift A frames and Failsafes have a reputation for being very tough, meaning to give eventually too less expansion. The 250 grain weight as compared to 286 grainers should offset this.

I think ( no experience in 9.3 up to now! ) the Nosler Partition to be the superior all around bullet, and will consequently try it first. It its too tough for smaller game, I would rather use a 250 grain bullet than a 232, so A frame or Xs come to mind.

Note that I dont talk about really heavy game: read Rays post, and I would follow his suggestions for Buff.

Good shooting! H
