BaxterBVery sad news from Botswana re: Gail Selby Wentink
I am so saddened to let you all know about the death of Gail's husband, Brian Wentink yesterday morning. He died suddenly of a heart attack and had recently celebrated his 60th birthday. Needless to say Gail is taking it hard but the outpouring of good thoughts and well-wishes has helped.
Gail is aware I am posting this so perhaps the moderators could 'stick' it to the top for a while in the event she logs on she can easily find your comments. I have been lucky to get to know Gail and Brian very well over the past many years and I think I can honestly say they are some of the most kind and good-hearted people you would ever know and for this to have happened is such a tragedy.
It was said once that happiness is easily shared but sorrow must be endured alone, but I think knowing that so many people are keeping Gail and the entire family in their thoughts might help ease some pain, even if only a little.
With a heavy heart,
Baxter

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
