No cynicism there, Peter - just realism. Democracy in Africa is an oxymoron. It is a Western concept, which will never be taken seriously in Africa. It was a good cover to help win the support of the world, but I fear it's outlived its African usefulness. In the final analysis, the solution for Africa will be an African one, implemented by Africans.

Democracy in Africa?

A contradiction in terms.

It'll be a lot of work and blood to have a democracy in all of Africa, eh? What would become of the Safari business if all of Africa eventually became a democracy, if ever?
