tomorrow
it has been a long hot dusty day. Still, it might have not been the best but certainly not the worst. The big bull you chased for miles, disappeared into the herd, but the warthog of a lifetime did cross your path. The pride of lions were all females, they were a bit cheeky, watching you as closely as you were watching them, and even though you didn't fire a shot, the day was still a success. the constant sound of africe, the doves call will remain in your mind for as long as you have life. The long cold drive back to camp sent wintertime chills through your light jacket. But then the light of camp shimmered through the trees. The engine of the cruiser finally is quiet, and the hot shower waits for you with anticipation. s you leave your tent, the smell of the mopane fire assaults your senses, and its warmth and friendly light makes the mood mellow. The gopher brings you a sundowner as yoour weary body settles into the camp chair dove breasts wrapped in bacon come out as appetizers making you realize that your stomach is on empty. The stories of your PH's experiences weld into your mind, even as the barks of zebra and baboons echo throughout the night air. The cook has prepared medallions of eland, fresh roasted potoes, local fresh rice and vegetables with a creme brule for desert. Oh for the quiet of night with an over stuffed tummy, your eyelids are heavy,as you walk back to your tent shinning the flashlight along the walkway wary of the puff adder that may be laying on a warm rock. crawling into a soft bed bed, pulling the covers up while listening to the hippo pods in conversation, the lonely call of a male lion looking for company serenade you to sleep. Remember this day, maybe not the best, but not the worst. There is always tomorrow and the big bull is still out there. Tomorrow will come, but do not forget today. remember it well for there will be many tomorrows, until there are not

A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

Great read - immediately brings back visualizations of past trips!

I normally do not get melancholy until sometime in January when the snow is deep and I'm reading instead of hunting.

Looks like it came early in Minnesota :-)

The only two things missing from your scenario are a good Cuban cigar and an ice cold Tafel Lager. I’ll be experiencing that scenario in May 2019 with Jan du Plessis in Kamanjab Namibia. Counting down the days.
