bradheFirst canned Lion hunt
I happened to have a free day in London and spent some with in the British Museum. It seems that one of the first canned lion hunts can be attributed to the Assyrians in around 640 BC. The carved panels from the Nineveh Palace clearly show some of the lions being hunted by King Ashuirbanipal being pushed out of a cage. Interesting.
