I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

The rifle is a .375H&H custom. (My pride and joy!!)

The action is a standard K98 and the barrel is a Vector. The sight is a peep sight made for lever action rifles.

I hunted the wildebeest with rhino 300gr bullets. I shot the wildebeest in the chest while facing me at 80 yards. The wildebeest fell right down but after a few seconds it got on it's feet and on his way. I snapped a second shot at the spine and it fell again. I missed the spine with an inch and had to shoot it through the neck when it tried to get up after the second shot.

The first shot was a proper lung shot!!! These poor man's bufalo sure are tough!

In my experience, a frontal shot on WB is risky. If you don't get the hart or a major artery, you get only one lung, no major bones, and those animals can go a long way on four good legs and one lung.

Good shooting.

And nice trophy. I also like your rifle. Great piece of wood.

Congrats!
