Eland SlayerSouth African hunt videographers
Who would you guys recommend for doing video work on a 10 day plainsgame hunt in RSA?
And what is a reasonable price to be expected for such work?

A.DahlgrenMany of us here have used Osprey with very good result. But it all comes down to what you are wiling to spend. You have a young guy in Texas that films with he´s Red camera in a great way but of course more dollars.

Big Wonderful WyomingWade,
As someone who went their first time about 13 years ago, I am not sure that I recommend it.
If this is something you already do at home you might like it.
If your new wife is going hand her a video camer and switch off, you will get more out of it.
You will pay the videographers daily rate as a guest as well as the cost of the video work. So consider that.

Bama15Get in touch with Michelle Buchanan, Buchanan Hunts. She and her brother, Andy, work together, he videos and she is a booking agent. On some of their hunts, if she books the hunt, Andy stays in camp free. They did that with the hunt I'm going on next year. Andy does as good of work as anybody, some of his clips are here on AR. Michelle also does all the travel arrangements at no extra cost. You really can't beat them.

Big Wonderful WyomingGood morning,
This is the quote I got back this morning.
For filming alone we charge $300 per day. This also includes stills photography.
The other costs that may apply are:
- travel for the camera person to and from your area
- accommodation costs for the videographer (usually charged direct by your host)
- drone costs if you would like a drone (add an extra $200 flat rate, plus $20 per day)
If you'd like any further information, please don't hesitate to ask. Please note that we usually require a minimum of 7 days filming. This is because we regularly get bookings of 14 - 21 days, so from an economical point of view both for us and our cameramen, it makes no sense for us to have a camera out for less days than 7.
They also charge $75 for the hard drive. But if you bring one with you, you save that $75.

Some outfitters will not charge for the videographer in camp and thus help their client a little. In my opinion the right thing to do if possible.
