1115A Bit of Africa at Home
Today being Sunday, and the woods still being to wet to bow hunt after the storm last week, I pulled up a recipe for rusks on the internet, and talked my sweet wife Chrissy into making some for me. It is drying in the oven, and tomorrow morning, I will have it with my coffee just like I did in RSA last year, and Tanzania this year. Pierr'e Van Tonder's wife Anneli bakes some from her recipe in camp, and it is delicious. The most important part of the whole African experience for me is the memories it generates. My wife hooked on Ms Ball's Chutney, and loves biltong, now if I can get her to make rusks regularly maybe I can make a camp cook out of her one day (just kidding!!!!!!!!!!). She loves to share my hunting experiences by the photos I bring home, and the stories I tell. She is not a hunter, but is a super hunters wife. I hope to take her with me next year. Not a bad way to spend and afternoon. Every time I look at my trophies my mind goes right back to Africa. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the time I have spent there. I guess I'm hooked.

1115Thanks for the info Terry. I have also found a source called The African Food Shop and you can order biltong, chutney and many other African delicasies on-line. The biltong is beef, and is made in the US, but it tastes just like the biltong I had in RSA.

Balla BallaNow here is something to CONSIDER ...
With this Africa forum being the premier hunting wildlife conservation and political ( think tank ) of the WORLD how about the ENTREPRENUERS of AR selling AFRICA PRODUCTS as well, you have a small on line store going already
Therefore just expand the operation and start including the (Africa food and Drinks) products as well
I am sure there will be a LOT of SUPPORT and purchases from the USA guests

Use Enough GunMy wife WAS NOT a hunter and accompanied me to Africa this year for the first time. I say WAS NOT. However, she NOW IS. That's what Africa does to a person. She is going again next year and will have her own list of animals to hunt and a new 30-06 to hunt with. Take your wife. Don't leave her out. You will see what I mean once she has been there with you.

1115Mike,
I am planning on bringing her to Dallas in January. We need to get the same guy with the limo's again. That was great fun. However, my wife and I will have our own room this time. Between the late night partygoers, and JudgeG's snoring, I lost out on some much needed beauty sleep!!!!!!!!

When you do you create another monster for Africa. I took my wife and daughter in '01 and my wife this year. I doubt I can ever go back without Susan going with me. By the way, she shot better trophies than I did on both trips. She never gloated or bragged about it but she is a hell of a hunter and companion.
