Brian CanadaSix cape buffalo cows at Africa Maximum Safaris in NW Province, Rustenburg.
I Just got back from hunting 6 cape buffalo cows with my 577NE single shot loaded with 700 grain Peregrine bushmaster VRG3 bullets. Five were complete passthrough broadside shots. One was from stem to stern, Most were DRT. It was an awesome hunt. My PH Gene Hill was the best!
The bush was green, lush and dense after a few weeks of heavy rains. The buffalo hid out in the dense patches of bush where there was still lots of water.
It was very exciting buffalo hunting and included two charges, fortunately the Ph had me tucked away in a safe place during the two charges. At my age, 80, I am not very nimble and was happy to stand out of harms way. Excellent outfitter and PH and awesome hunting country.

Baker458Very cool, Brian. That's packing a lot of big-bore shooting into one trip!
How large was the property?
Did you have to travel from lodge-hunting area? Or was camp inside the area you hunted?

Brian CanadaGood questions. The properties were huge. There was some travel involved, about half hour one way usually. There were lots of buffalo and the bush was "real Africa."
Because of the heavy rains the buffalo did not have to come out of the thick patches for water and were sometimes challenging to find in some areas. If one went in June - August it would be dryer and the buffalo easy to find. They have top PH's and they could find bird shit in a coo-coo clock.

It was great buffalo hunting on huge properties. You could average one buffalo per day I think. One of the best buffalo hunts that I have had.
For Plains Game I think the camp was inside the hunting area.
