Leaving today...
Taking off today for Namibia. Nothing huge planned. I am doing a hosted hunt where I am taking a group of guys over that have never been, and it will be cool to see things through their eyes.

No idea what I will hunt, but looks like probably just PG. This trip was planned when dog hunting for leopards was still legal, and that was my original plan. Obviously that has now changed. They have had 50" of rain so far this year, and the normal for the entire year is 17". Things are green, rivers are flowing, and cats are having an easy time making a living, so I can't imagine we would ever get one on bait. I have kind of written the leopard portion of the hunt off and chalking it up to more of my bad leopard luck.

Just gonna try to enjoy what should be a relaxing trip with no pressure. I have to admit that I sure wish I was hunting some kind of DG...but I will get plenty of that in this August in Moz I guess. Have a good May...

Have a great trip Tim. Namibia has a few critters you can't hunt anywhere else. Makes for a good safari.

Have fun!

Tim,

Good hunting. Early season with lots of water makes leopard better in the rest of Africa..........

That's what I thought too Mark, but my PH has relayed that most of the travel ways are now flowing rivers, and they just aren't seeing a lot of cat movement. He did have a big male on bait Friday, but I am sure he will be gone by the time I get there.

Good luck Tim... though it has been a few years ago, I really enjoyed my hunt in Namibia. It is a fascinating and beautiful country with some unique plainsgame to hunt like Damaraland Dik Dik and Hartman's zebra. I have always wanted to go back and visit it again. Have fun on your trip. It is always enjoyable to experience Africa with first-timers!

good luck tim, with no paticular animal lined up maybe you should look for that magical 60" Kudu.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Namibia is the place to go for 60". If I knew how to post photos, I would show you one.
