My wife and I have stayed twice and you can not find any better. Louie has great influence with guns through Joburg and Annalise is a saint and runs a great operation. It is a home away from home and they care about your needs.

I stayed there in June 2004. I will stay there anytime I go through SA. Be sure and eat at the Seafood Basket. It is worth the flight to Africa just for dinner.

A chain of casual seafood restaurants in South Africa. They are very good.

Try the kingklip and prawns or the seafood platter.

There is certainly nothing wrong with the Ocean Basket but given a choice, I prefer the BBQ whose name escapes me. Louis will know. You absolutely must try the marrow bone appetizer!

My wife and I stayed at Afton House in March 2005 on our photo safari trip. We were greeted by Louie at the Rovos Rail station in Pretoria with a big van to carry all of my wife's zulu baskets purchased in Durban. They stored all of the merchandize while we toured Botswana. We returned to Afton house and they arranged to take us shopping at the Harbetesport Dam (SP?) outdoor flea market the day we boarded to fly back to Atlanta. They facilitated the transfer of the curios to the taxidermist in Pretoria to go in my crate from a previous hunting trip.

I will stay there every chance I get in the future and I highly reccomend there service.

Well, we were there in August of '04. I believe it was early August but am getting too feeble-minded to remember the exact night. We thought the food was first class and I didn't see anyone in our entire group (there were about a dozen hunters and their wives staying at Afton House that night) who wasn't happy with the meal. Of course if you're there on the night when the chef's teeth hurt and no one in the kitchen is getting along, things can go south quickly.
