Troll Alert!
In the past 5 days I have received a rash of E-Mails requesting PH, booking agent, and hunting area recommendations. When I trace the origin of the E-Mails, all are from overseas. Someone is attempting to spoof their IP address and capture my IP in the process..

Considering the recent problems experienced here and on other hunting web sites with a certain problem child, be forewarned, this could be a set up. Our little buddy is supposedly amassing a smear list of PHs, outfitters, and booking agents he deems have wronged him.

Accordingly, I would be very suspect of anyone requesting this type of information. I would suggest that you attempt to qualify the contact before you provide ammunition for our problem child.

Can you explain what "spoof" means? How does someone "capture" an ISP? What are the consiquences?

I have to admit that the stuff you mentioned is a bit above my computer knowledge, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here that feels that way!

Not only are you truly stupid Zero IQ, you also exhibit no knowledge of IT related topics what so ever.

Don't attempt to insinuate that CARMELOL has anything to do with your spam you fraud and scammer.

No one needs any information from a Mope like you.

The New Forum Databas is already filled with reports on scammers from personals emails and reports available on the internet.

However since you crave so much attention from me, I will personally do an article on the stupidity of the scam hunters and "scouts" using you as a prime example.

Run along mope, go run some nslookups against you mothers behind.

Spoofing is when the hacker has the software to change addies when sending emails. If the message is sent from Dallas, Texas; the addy could be spoofed to say it was from Bangor, Maine. It is a hacker tool, more or less.

... Or they hijack another IP server address to appear they are in Hong Kong for instance when in fact they are in Illinois. Now that our little buddy is no longer here, he will most likely resort to port attacks & E-Mail attacks on the AR server and private E-Mail accounts.

If you use your site or E-Mail for commerce and someone attacks your account with the intent to disrupt your business, this crosses the line from an asshole to an actionable offence. The FBI does take these crimes seriously and they will quietly investigate. Once you are flagged by the FBI cyber crime division, you become a market man - or a flagged. They tend to watch everything you do from then on.

Well, at this point I am going to just assume our buddy got excited yesterday and the pause in his actions means he fully knows the seriousness of his actions. A flood of email one day that my filters shunted away is not acceptable but not enough to make me call the local FBI field office (whom I worked with in the past in my business).

He is in the IT field and I don't want to do something that irreparably damages his career over a tantrum.

Just because I banned his IP from posting he is probably here lurking and reading. In fact, you can bet on it.

Don, I have noticed that since Carmelo went on his binge that MORTIE has not been posting, just wondering

Don:

Being an azzhole does not get you on the FBIs radar. However, interference with interstate commerce does. If our little buddy crosses the line and attacks an outfitter or launches a denial of service attack against a commercial site, he will have crossed the line. The mope is just moronic enough to do this.

Anyone who received an E-Mail flood or threatening message should post it here for everyones protection.

Thanks for taking care of this problem child. Hopefully our little script kitty has learned his lesson...

ZeroDrift, looks like you're calling him a wannabe hacker and not a real one. SCRIPT KITTY, huh.

Jimmy I noticed the same thing, but Mortie had a different IP address and we never banned it. He just got bored of being ignored.

Zero Drift....his email was not threatening. I wrote to him asking him to refrain from posting meaningless threads and stick to hunting issues on this forum.

He returned that message with a smiley face (and kept doing it continuously).

Within 5 min I had a filter set up and just watched my trash bin grow.

I think he knew what line not to cross.
