Dakota Price Increase
Anyone considering a new Dakota should order it soon. Dakota is announcing a 10% increase on orders received after 2/15/12. Who said we are in a recession? bewildered

Don't most people consider Dakota to be 1-2K overpriced to begin with?

I'd say Dakotas are overpriced by half.

Just look at their resale value.

I'm a big Dakota fan having too many M76s and 10s, but they are already priced about 30% above their real market value.
This adder makes it towards the ridiculous level.

I am a great admirer of the Dakota 76, so long as it was produced while Don Allen was still alive and in charge. Excellent fit and finish, first-rate forged WIN M70/Mauser98 hybrid action, good triggers. Very reliable and accurate and very pretty. Wood quality often exaggerated, though.

After Allen's death? Maybe not so much.

Good hunting.

great now you can pay even more for a shit product thats not even worth half of what they charge for them obv the people at dakota are smoking some real good shit either that or there trying to run the business into the ground on purpose maybe the owner has another business and wants the tax write off...

Actually, the ENTIRE Dakota m76 rifle was machined from pre-hardened bar stock.

They never used forgings of any kind.

Which is why they were never able to actually build any double rifles or shotguns in house. They were made in Italy.

I agree. I have owned Dakota and the twin - Winchester M70. For my money, I would prefer a M70 that has been tweaked by any of the top gunsmiths here on AR.

And therein is the key, if you want one buy used.
