FMCLion taxidermists at DSC
My main goal for DSC this year is to look at US taxidermists for an African lion. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, frank
There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

WesheltonjWell you have two of the best that post here, Dennis Harris and Jerry Huffaker. I doubt if either are displaying there. Dennis did my taxidermy and a business partner of a friends lion, all excellent work.

nhoroJerry Huffaker, Huffaker Taxidermy, Abilene TX. Probably no display at show, but he doesn't need to.

Already I was beginning to fall into the African way of thinking: That if
you properly respect what you are after, and shoot it cleanly and on
the animal's terrain, if you imprison in your mind all the wonder of the
day from sky to smell to breeze to flowers—then you have not merely
killed an animal. You have lent immortality to a beast you have killed
because you loved him and wanted him forever so that you could always
recapture the day - Robert Ruark

Todd WilliamsRoy Holdridge with True Life Taxidermy will be there as well.
He did an outstanding job on one of my leopards and is currently doing a lion I shot a few years ago.
I would speak to Roy and Jerry Huffaker. Both do outstanding cat work.

shootawayI didn't see them at Dallas but Frank J Zitz & Company Inc. is my favourite along with Phil Soucy.I thought there would be more taxidermy at Dallas.

Dutch44Wes Goode at Wildlife Studios (Think it is under a new name) in Pennsylvania did my full body mount. Spectacular work. Whoever does your mount have them fit the mold to the body. Not the other way around.

dogcatJerry Huffaker in Abilene TX is the best as evidenced by his many national awards from his fellow taxidermists. None better.

bcapwes good is now kanati studios and does great work. Cats look great and does some of the best bases and habitat work to go with the mount.

royal27Dennis Harris at The Artistry of Wildlife (Michigan) is world class, especially with bears and the cats.
He's reasonably priced as well. In many cases, perhaps not full mount, he's no more than most of the African taxidermists once you add in the shipping.

Kathi https://www.outdoorlife.com/sa...unts-youve-ever-seenArticle is about the SCI Convention taxidermy, 22 greatest mounts you've ever seen. There are some photos of cats from the taxidermist some posters have named, Philip Soucy. He does great cat work.
