Save Valley Conservancy- status?

Carolina CounselSave Valley Conservancy- status?
My father recently sent to me an article stating that the Save was being indigenized and all hunting would stop per order by Mugabe. I figured that if that were true, this site would be buzzing with such news. I can't find any posts related to it. Can anyone provide the skinny?

larryshoresMy understanding is that quotas & permits have been issued.

subsailor74I am booked for a buffalo / sable hunt in late August with Mike Payne and Save Safaris. He has all of his permits - and has had them since the middle of the DCS Convention. Quotas on cats are way down from previous years, but that is the only wrinkle I know of.

DinoinPVI am headed back to the Save in 2 months, for some buffalo and hippo action with Thierry Labbat again. I know they have all the qoutas on all of their areas for sure!!
That's on Hammond, Sango, and Arda. His mate Glen, has received their quota for their place as well..

muck rackerIt is my understanding quotas have been issued, but not the hunting permits. they are all still negotiating. one would think with Zimbabwe desperate for income, this will get resolved?

ledvmI was just told by boots on the ground reliable source that hunting was back on hold again in the Save.
Just got a Whatsapp message saying more unrest in Save and hunting on hold again.
Don't know more than that...just FYI.

pagosawingnutI wonder if they are ever going to get around to drawing for the hunt that some of us bought chances for as well.
05 March 2014, 07:31
bobby7321oh yeah, whatever happened with that old drawing. Where did the funds end up?
07 March 2014, 11:32
Neil DuckworthThe funds that were raised went to the Rhino anti poaching efforts in the SVC. Mokore purchased a lion and an elephant for this cause in 2012 and were supposed to utilise these tags last year. We have now been allocated one of the 2 lion tags and an elephant tag in the SVC for this year to support our purchase.
Yes the SVC is experiencing some difficulties with finalising the indigenisation process. There was a hiccup last week with the minister but all seems back on track .The quotas have been issues but hunting permits are only allocated to properties on finalisation of the indigenisation process. Once a property has formed a new company that is indigenous, i.e 49 % previous white owners and 51% made up of black partners, communities etc, only then will the hunting permit be issued. This has been the plan from day 1 ,just finalising of the companies and how it will work taking time which is expected when we're dealing with this type of business plan.
