interboatBUSH COW?
Negley Farson, in his 40s-era book Behind God's Back, writes that the BUSH COW of west Africa is "the most dangerous animal in Africa. The Bush Cow does not wait to be wounded, like the buffalo, before he starts to hunt you."
What the hell is a bush cow?

OldsargeI haven't got a picture, yet, either but here's the definition:
BUSH COW
A West African buffalo ({Bubalus brachyceros}) having short horns depressed at the base, and large ears fringed internally with three rows of long hairs. It is destitute of a dewlap. Called also {short-horned buffalo}, and {bush cow}.
It also referred to as Synersus nana, the West African dwarf buffalo or Forest buffalo.

OldsargeInterboat,
Dunno, can't hunt W. Africa until I retire but all the stories I've read would lead me to think so.

AtkinsonA red dwarf buffalo...They have a reputation for being very agressive, probably a little over rated IMO...Most will weigh about 800 lbs is my guess, and will vari in color from light reddish to almost black'red, and of course being smaller the are easier to kill. A 9.3x62 would be the perfect dwarf buffalo caliber IMO..Personally, I prefer to hunt the black bulls of Tanzania and Zimbabwe myself..
