Game by country. Which is best?
For example, if one wanted to take an exceptional kudu, where should he go? Just for fun, I would like to see what some of you experienced hunters think. Following is a list of animals. Where would YOU go to hunt if your objective was to take a truly magnificent trophy.

Kudu
Sable
Eland
Roan
Impala
Leopard
Lion
Buffalo
Ele
Oryx/Gemsbok
Waterbuck
Lechwe
Nyala

PS, feel free to add any other game animal and where you would go to hunt. By the way, money is no issue because your great uncle passed away leaving you his entire estate including $100,000,000. and a Rolex watch. :-)

Do not have much experience on many of these but off the top of my head, here would be my list:

Kudu-Namibia
Sable-Zambia
Eland-Lord Derby for sure, CAR
Roan-Zambia
Impala-east african, Tanzania
Leopard-Tanzania or Zimbabwe
Lion-Botswana or Tanzania
Buffalo-Tanzania or Zambia
Elephant-Botswana or Zimbabwe
Gemsbok-Namibia
Waterbuck-Defassa, Zambia
Lechwe-Zambia
Nyala-Mt. Ethiopia, regular nyala-Kwazulu Natal RSA

Actually if money were no object I would throw in Mozambique, Cameroon, then head back to Virginia for a limit of squirrels.

I think Namibia would be supply a far better chance at a 100 pounder than Zimbabwe. Tanzania and Mozambique would also be better. Zimbabwe is a great place for Elephant hunting but it is not the place to go for "outstanding" ivory. Other than that the list is pretty good.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Can the ivory from elephants be brought back to the U.S. from Moz, yet?

Kweber, there are no trophy squirrels but the hunting is enjoyable. If you just got $100 million to spend you might start living too fast, you know what they say about how money can corrupt. A little squirrel hunt after a couple of years of hunting in Africa would help bring you back down to earth. Smiler
