They can and have been used before but for the price you are paying for that safari why bother and take the risk. Use them as practise loads.

Go that extra mile and buy premium bullets the last thing you would want to happen is for something to go wrong just because of the bullets used. You need to have confidence in your equipment.

BTW where in Sweden are you situated ? I´m in Kinna at the moment 60km away from Gothenburg.

I have used hornady intelock in my 375 on a lot of plainsgame with no problem but I would personally not go and use them for buffalo.

what do you think about hornady 300 grain solid as bullet for big game and 260 gr accubond för plain games? i may load some cartidges with 300 gr hornady solid and some 260 gran accubond and 250 gr sierra for informal shooting.

Yes,

I have no experience with the accubonds or hornady solids so I cannot say. There should be some more people on this board with more experience on them that would be able to help you.

I've found the Hornady 300 gr. boat tailed spire points and the 300 grain round nosed solids to be quite accurate in my 375 H&H Mag. and they hit in pretty much the same place at 100 yards with the same load of RL-15.

I have used the 260gr Accubond on lion with very good results, one shot and one lion. They also work well on most plains game, but I think they are way too soft for buff.

Considering the cost of a DG hunt, using anything other that premium amunition is very poor economy. Confused

My preference is Swift A Frame and Woodleigh Solids.

I killed a cape buffalo quite dead once several years ago with one well placed shot through the top of his heart with a .458 inch Interlock.

No major bones were struck - which was key, I think.

Conventional bullets do work when all goes well, but now so many better bullets are available, I say - why take any chances?

Actually, if one keeps the velocity relatively down, and chooses his shot well, on most cases they will work.

But, one would have to forget about shots from certain angles.

One also has to take into consideration that he is travelling half way across the world, and the cances he might get at his chosen animal might be so many.

Using well penetrating bullets - by this I mean mono metal - one can shoot an anial from any angle.

As Saeed says, if you don't drive them too fast they usually work...too fast and they come apart...

That said, if I was spending the big bucks a Safari costs, I wouldn't take a chance on screwing up my Safari with a cheap box of bullets, I only use super premiums or premiums on my hunts, Noslers, GS Custom, North Forks, Woodleighs are my favorites..

Noslers are probably the best bang for the buck going.....

I'm pretty sure that Craig Boddington has taken a number of buffalo with the 375 H&H 300 grain sierra boattails, usually at longer range. I've never tried it personally prefering a tougher bullet but not many modern hunters have shot more buffalo than Craig.

thank you all
gentlemen
last summer i run a test on many standard and permium bullets in my 3006, 8x57 and 65x55 with a large variety of bullets. my target was a deer simlatur with a 2 mm thick plastic and 1 inch thick hard wood and soaked papper and dry papper too . among all standard bullets only remington cor-lokt and hornady and lapua mega (in 6,5x55) never had mantel sparation and always had around 60-70 % weight and short after was sierra with very nice mushrooming and only shed it's lead cor in a couple of occasions , whan i was shooting it to dry papper. many other brands failed totally and even barnes shed it petals when fired into dry papper.nosler and swift gave the best penetration and fail safe was penetration champion i couldn't find the bullet it penetrated the test media totaly Smiler of cours it was in standard velocity rounds and not magnum high speed rounds. i was amazed by these standard bullets performance. i am waiting to recieve my 375 bullets from midway. to test them . it is very funny.Big Grin to test on papper ,

The Winchester Power Point is a terrific conventional bullet in all calibers I have tried, incl. 7mm, 308, 375.

they are a thick (0.049 or thicker) brass jacket w copper coating. The jacket is thick and ductile. Really holds up well to high velocity and supports the expaned lead core rather than bending backwards so the lead washes away.

I would use them if NF, original TBBC, Bitterroot, Kodiak, Swift, were not available. Would consider them instead of Woodleigh which they are about on par with despite being un bonded.
