470 MbogoCanuck32 Gets His Elephant
I received a call this morning from Lonny's Dad asking me to post this up for Lonny. While hunting with Pierre Von Tonder Lonny managed to take an Elephant with aprox. 1.8 meter tusks. That works out to aprox 70.2 inches. He will fill in all the details along with pictures when he returns.
Take care,
Dave
Congratulations to Jumbo on his jumbo.

Michael RobinsonCongrats to Canuck32! I love those long East African tusks.

Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

JudgeGI hate to say this to Retreever, but Pierre thinks they may weigh 10 #'s more than his. That's close to 80 #'s.
What an elephant!
JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

PalmerWay to go Lonny,
I am very happy for you and assume you had a great Kabuki Kabuki over that one.
Sorry I missed you at the Sea Cliff a couple weeks ago. We left a little early.

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

retreeverLonny,
Let me offer my congratulations on a fine large tusker...
How big are those tusks??? Well my pair when laid on the couch there is no room for anyone to sit there...I am still smiling and know how Lonny is smiling and disbelief... Till he looks down in front his tent Zanzibar and sees the ivory sticking up out of the ground waiting for Magessa to pull them free in 14 days...
Yhe best on the rest of your time in the Selous...

BigBBearI was at the Sea Cliff the other night and met Lonnie and talked to Pierre and his son. Saw pictures of his Elephant and it is a beast for sure. He also got some other great trophies as well, one being a huge lesser Kudu. He said he would post pictues when he got back. Sounded like a great hunt.

bwanamrmWow, congratulations! I look forward to the pix also! No trophy quite like an elephant trophy.

Canuck32Just got back and had a great trip. I'll post the story as soon as I can. For now here is a couple of pictures.
If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."
