<ronl>SST or SCIROCCA performance on plainsgame?
Gentlemen
Has anyone used the SST or Scirroca on African plainsgame? I have used both in a .300 magnum for hogs and 300 pound deer with good results. They hold together better than Ballistic Tips and I have been getting an exit wound. Many times with the Ballistic Tip their is not an exit wound. I was wondering about their performance on larger African (kudu) or American (elk) animals.
Thanks.

AtkinsonI'm sure they will work MOST of the time, I am also sure a Nosler partition, Swift A frame or Woodleighs will work EVERYTIME...Why would you skimp on bullets on a $10,000 African Safari????? Thats allways been a wonderment to me!

<Pumba>Ron L,
Lee Reid, the president of the Swift Bullet Company, told me that the Scirocco is NOT intended for game larger than our whitetail or mule deer.
As Mr. Atkinson has so kindly pointed out, the A-Frame would be a much better choice.
Good Hunting !

<Clint>The Scirocco though a wonderful bullet at non magnum velocities, is not the best choice per weight for Plains Game. Though lethal, it was not able to completely penetrate more than on African animal for me. Muzzle vel. was 3200 fps, and the only exit wound/blood trail was on a broadside Impala at 135 yards. Even the little Blesbok stopped it on a quartering shot.
Stick with the proven Partition, Fail Safe, X-bullet, or A-Frame. What ever shoots best in your rifle.
