AtkinsonONE OF OUR OWN IN TANZANIA
Our own Allen Johnson has been in Tanzania with Pierre van Tonder for about 5 days now and I just talked to Pierre and Allen shot the big MGM lion that the Judge and others reported seeing..He is apparantly a great Lion..Then Allen got a high brow raising Buffalo over 40 inches and bosses that Pierre reported looked like two cement sacks on his head..then so as not to change his lucky steak he just shot a really nice Tanzanian Sable, so he is off to the races..Oh yeah, almost forgot, and a huge tusked Hippo on dry land, and that was an exciting hunt..I wonder what he will do for the next 16 days...Guess he will try for that Leopard thats hit his baits twice in two days, sounds like a plan to me...

500grainsRay,
Is Pierre hunting in the same concession this year that Saeed hunted in 2003/2004?

JudgeGJJS:
That's not the lion that you saw, even though it was a tremendous one on the way to the airport. This one was all the way on the border with another concession... and it had a black LONG mane... I saw both, and would have shot either, btw... So.. there's still a mighty good one for whomever goes with Pierre next.
When we saw the lion, Twiga and Dominique got out of the Cruiser and started walking toward it as some perverted "manhood" thing... When the lion got his tail up and tensed his muscles, Twiga and Dominique gracefully decided that both had big cajones and walked quickly back to the truck, calling their test a "tie".
I had called Allen and told him to expect good "lion" things... He came through!

No Pierre is hunting another concession this year...His scouts found these two lions and saw lots of buffalo and some real decent elephants so he negociated for it....
I forget which blocks we hunted last year and the year before...I think last year we were in the LU4 area and Mahenge...Year before further up North around MH1 maybe, anyway we were across the river from Pano calavarez, and next to Swanapol...

Congratulatins Allen. What a hunt, that is just what I want. I hope Pierre doesn't use up all his luck before my '06 safari.
