Let me assure you that Mike Wirth and his staff take this stuff very seriously...
Hats of to Mike Wirth.
At long last, we might be getting an individual worthy of running SCI.
And as they are investigating Arnold, they might also investigate the canned trophy hunting industry.

Nothing new here, Mike has been around in that role for quite a long time.

SCI as an organisation does not condone canned hunting.
What is your definition?

Per decision of Safari Club International (SCI) show management, Impala African Safaris under ownership of Arnold Payne, is currently not accepted to exhibit at any future SCI shows. Future actions regarding official company and/or individual suspension will be determined pending current ethics investigation.

SCI Exhibit Program Manager
This is exactly what Mr Delone the CEO told me a week or so ago.
Matt,
I honestly have no objection what anyone wants to hunt.
Whether it is wild animal or farm raised.
My objection is for those who shoot captured animals and enter them in the record book as wild animals.
It makes a mockery of the true trophy hunters.

I agree... African game does not have separate SCI record books for game ranched animals - unlike other continents. I do not know why but that's the way it is. Everything is recorded as a wild animal.

larryshoresThis prick Payne has been sued a lot of times and lost. He has gone to shows and put up pictures of clients and animals that are not even his clients. Other reputable booking agents noticed as they were their clients.
He had a quota of 5 lions on Savuli which is less than 15,000 acres. He is in with some of those invading the Save. He is in with some on the banned list. He is a big problem.
Good riddance.

But they do. Look at lions. Wild, then RSA and Namibia.

OK - my mistake. What about the wild lions taken in Namibia? I thought there was some. There are a few wild lions taken in RSA too I believe - very, very few perhaps.
Do any other African species have separate books?

Lest you think Mr Payne is not a problem, I have some more info for you all.
Certain parties in Zim publicly criticized Arnold and his partners. Some THUGS came to visit. One of the more notorious (violent) characters was coming next if an apologies were not proffered.
I have the following straight from a well respected, honest booking agent. The BA agent had an elephant sold in a good area at a fair price. On his way to get his check book, the client ran into Mr Payne. AP convinced the client to purchased one of his elephant specials for $15,000. Photos that AP had were very convincing to the client. The problem was that these photos were taken by clients of the BA initially referred to above. The photos were of elephants taken with the same PH the BA initially referred to above was going to send the client with AND these photos were from Botswana.
This guy is a major problem. Good riddance.

All lions taken in RSA are listed in a separate classification of the SCI record book. Canned or the few wild, does not matter. They are all listed as RSA lions, separate from other countries.
