Rhodesian Light Infantry historian interview Friday
I wasn't quite sure where to post this but we will be talking about the, "most dangerous game".

Friday, I will be interviewing Chris Cocks, author, veteran and RLI regimental historian. We'll discuss weapons, tactics, equipment and the history of the RLI along with Chris' books. You can listen to the live broadcast online from 1pm CST to 3PM CST. Go to www.sportshog1031.com and click on the KFPW 1230 logo. The show will rebroadcast on Sunday 9am CST til 11am CST (stream will come from clicking the sports hog logo) and again from 5pm til 7pm ( again click on the KFPW 1230 logo). We have a few troopie songs lined up to air during the show. If you enjoy it, please email me at highcaliberradio@yahoo.com so I can forward the comments to mgmt.

Guys,

If you don't know the show or Tim, they're always, but always well worth listening to.

Not only highly informative but also hugely entertaining and knowledgeable.

Internet connection allowing, I for one will be glued to the show. tu2

This is excellent programing on all firearms and historical and hunting interests from around the world. Tim Garrett has extensive knowledge and some of the best interviews that are not wall to wall info adds. You will appreciate the show honoring the men and women on memorial days around the world from ANZAC to D Day. Guys ,you will enjoy and appreciate.

Yup it was indeed.

I reckon that radio show is the best 2 hours entertainment I get all week! tu2

My only complaint is that it's not on for longer.

At least the rest of the world is getting some information of what actually took place in Southern Africa. salute

I thought the comments about the Rhodesian tactics and current wars were especially enlightening and the old quote 'lions led by donkeys' springs to mind with regard to the current wars.

I think it's repeated on Sunday at the same time but if you PM Tim Garrett (original poster) or DDRHOOK I'm sure he'll be able to give you the info you need.

Geez, if the RLI's kill rate was eighty to one, what the hell was 32's kill rate?
Steve, your comments on tactics and the use of flat bottomed APC's and the like in the sand pits, one has to wonder whether the American politician and the General Staff give a damn about their men on the ground. The same goes for Britain using thin skinned vehicles [Landrovers Big Grin] in combat. Big Grin

I wouldn't argue with that statement mate.

Politicians are the scum of the earth IMO. I support the troops but not the war(s) and given half a chance, I'd have all the politicians involved in court for waging illegal wars, genocide and crimes against humanity..... and Bliar, Brown and Campbell would be right at the top of my list for the gallows.

I wouldn't argue with that either.

Religious extremism of any kind is a dangerous and ridiculous thing.

I'd love to hear the interview and the recordings. Is there any chance that someonne could record this or perhaps the station might archive it for a week or so?
This is a family holiday weekend, grandkids and all. Not one I can steal any time from.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. Life does get in the way and I just can't make time for radio, tv, etc anymore. Good thing I have DVR on Dish network. I would really like to hear this interview. I bought and read Chris Cock's book last year when I got back from Zim.

We are having some problems due to all the weather we've had. The live radio broadcast is going out right now on 103.1fm but the streaming audio won't be on for a little while. It will definitely be on at 5pm CST streaming on the KFPW 1230 feed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes. You guys are correct this sort of interview needs to be archived. I have passed on to friends the program and replay times to contacts and received an excellent response with a great deal of interest.

If any of you guys like Balla Balla have such experience you should PM Tim Garrett and as you have a lot to contribute to a future interview.

Balla Balla-- thanks for the photo. Think about a post with a story to match.

I'm having a professional website built and I hope archives available for download soon. If anyone one of you knows of a local radio station that might like to air my show please let me know.
