LittleJoeSwarovski Pure vs EL
I am going to pass my Swarovski EL 12x50 to my son.
I am looking at the Swarovski 12x42 Pure and 12x50 EL.
I see the Pure has a field of view at 1,000 yards of 339ft. The EL is 300ft.
It is hard in a store telling the difference other than the cost.
Thoughts on both appreciated.

Jason PJoe:
As I believe you’re from Utah, you might know Randy Johnson. If not, he’s been guiding
sheep for 30 plus years. I hunted with him last year and he had the new Pures. He more
or less said they were unbelievable and changed the game. I tried them and they were very nice. My son has my slc’s and I switched to Leica range finding.
If I was buying new binoculars, I would certainly look hard at the Pures.
In addition to the increased FOV, I find the Pures much more ergonomic.

Jason, thanks for the info. I will reach just to Randy. If I ever draw sheep I will be hunting with him. We chat every spring when it is application time. Thanks. Justin

Use Enough Gun https://youtu.be/pP22wUFACgITake a look at this review of ELs and NLs (Pure) from a couple of years back. Gives you straightforward pros and cons for both.

Great, hope you draw. There is no better guide than Randy.

sandyhunterI used some 12x42 NL Pures during a sheep hunt earlier this year. I didn't have ELs side-by-side with them but am very familiar with the product and feel it used to be the gold standard. The NLs gave a super flat, clear picture that was better than any I had ever seen through binos and made it much easier to identify and judge sheep than the 10x42 Zeiss Victory FLs and the Leica 15X56 Geovids that we also had. To me, they present a step change in what binoculars are capable of.
