Guys, I can't afford Dakota, and maybe I am wrong, but from what I read, I like the 416 Remington, and can't find other than Rem. than chambers for it. I realize that lots of buff have been taken with the 375, but have you never wanted to stray a little from the beaten path? Thanks for the input, Rusty Carr

DGR ShooterCZ has recently added the .416 Remington to its Safari Classics line. 5 round magazine capacity and less than half the cost of a Dakota.

lavacaI too like the 416 rem. Bill Wisemann built me one with a synthetic stock for $4,500 and it shoots under #3/4 " at 100 yds off the bench. I could probably get 1/2", if I worked on loads, but why? Frankly, its the most accurate rifle I own.

sactollerThere have been a couple of .416Rem for sale in the classified here. I believe, one was a Win. Mod. 70 the other was a CZ. Both looked like nice rifles.

TerryRcan't you get a 416 Rem barrel and forend for your Blaser? Wouldn't that be cheaper than buying another rifle?

talentrecHave one built on an MRC 1999 action.
I believe Sako makes a 416 remmy.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.
Rusty:
There is a Model 70 Winchester for sale in the classifieds that has been tweaked that should provide reliable reasonably priced service as a big gun. Good luck!

A mate of mine knows the gunsmith that put Dakota on the map,he tells me that he left because the quality was going down the drain.Anyway the question is how much do you want to spend and what are you looking at? I have just purchased a sauer 202 takedown which looks and shoots fantasticly.if you know a good gun smith you could convert it to .416rem by rechambering a .375 barrel as it is the same case as the .375H&H .For example I have done something similar by making mine into a .300H&H mag by buying .300win mag bolt and mag with a 30'06 barrel and having it rechambered and it is the ducks guts

Bryan ChickIf you wish to "stray from the beaten path" why not try a 425 westley richards? either have one made or look for a used one. The round looks strange with the rebated case: looks like a giant 45acp round, but is a classic african cartridge
