John J LoMonaco
Do any of you know this guy or about this guy?
I just finished a book he commissioned to be written about him and his hunting career. Robert Anderson wrote the book.

I met John at the Shikari booth last year at DSC. Quite a character and a very accomplished hunter, especially mountain game. He must be in his mid to late 70's and still hunting hard.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

He's some how involved with Brittinghams, he was on the first Argali DVD that Jack did.

A smattering of photos of his hunts in Great Rams of Asia.

Yup, I had that Argali DVD of Jack Brittingham's and it has some great trophies & hunts.

To my understanding, he was a Daltile guy before the Brittinghams sold it. Was high enough up that he didn't have to work anymore after the sale.

He was definitely in the sheep video. I first saw that video some years ago in New Zealand. It is absolutely fascinating. Wish I could remember the name.

dogcat, I know John personally and he is not only a great guy -- but an accomplished hunter as well. His book is well-done with lots of quality photos. John has taken some impressive game from all over the world. I'm sure you will enjoy the read.

If I remember correctly, back in the 60's (?) Andy Russell wrote up a magazine article (probably Outdoor Life) of guiding Mr. LoMonaco to a big bull elk here in Alberta. The bull was referred to as a 'palomino' bull and for some reason I remember that .. Roll Eyes Smiler

Thanks all. I read his first book and he now has a second one out. Sounds like a fascinating person and hunter.
