Truer words were never spoken! Well said Ivan.

I agree. But I think this may have been the best strategy of all....

It is absolutely correct that the product should have carried a higher price. If demand was that great and quality that good (sounds like they were handmade and individually checked by the designer)--- raising margin until demand matched production is the way to run the business.

Mike, trust me, they were that good. I have 4 recovered ones from elk and moose, and when my 338-378 spoke, something was going to hurt.
But I can relate to the hours, and they don't leave much time for personel fun.

Hopefully someone will pick it line up before I run out of 240gr 338's!!!!

Sounds like Mike had a very loyal following. From everything that has been said it sounds like it was well deserved.
I haven't used his bullets but when I heard (from this forum) about him shutting down I sent an e-mail off to a friend that did use them and his reply was:
"Sent an e- mail yesterday to Mike at Northfork bullets asking if this was permanent and his response was, “The company will rise under new ownership, but date not known.â€
Sounds like there is hope yet for the return of a great product.

I spoke with Mike also and he said stay tuned as the Northfork name may come back. However the question is will they be the same. Will someone else have the same quality standards. We will just have to wait and see. I wish I had stocked up before he ended production.I am now in search of another good bullet that can come close to the Northforks.

One thing that all of us can and should do is to support custom bullet makers by purchasing their product. And use their bullets for both practice and hunting.

I hope the announcement of his retirement will create a stampede for what bullets remain on Mikes shelves, and a back log of orders we have all been wishing or planning to make.

Best wishes to a real gentleman and craftsman.

since i haven't hunte dmuch in the last few years I only have a box of 358's for my whelen. I was going to call and charge up the card stockpiling 358, 30, 416 and 375 but since there is no inventory that is sad. I would like to know more details about the possible reincarnation.

very sad news indeed. I hadn't used them yet but they get such uniersally good feedback from those that have.

Shit, SHIT, SHIT!!!

Now that I have that out of my system I'd almost be willing to make the bullets for him even if it means moving to Glenrock...

My brother and his family are only 20-0dd miles further west in Casper.

Mike,

Thanks for making the perfect bonded bullet.

Pictured, 450 and 400 grain .458 recovered from buffalo at 2,550 fps and 2,700 fps.

It will be a long time until we see any other manufacturer equal this performance.

Hello:
North Fork bullets are being made in Sweden now. I just ordered some from the website and they were delivered about three (3) days later.

I saw a representative from North Fork at the DSC show passing out flyers to order their bullets. They also had some for auction. So I would assume they are somewhat freely available.

I just ordered a bunch from International Reloading and spoke to their US Agent who provided me bcs.

Guys,
I don't know if anyone realized the original thread was started in 2008 and has been dug up from the graveyard.
