MacD37Going to get my throat cut Aug 2nd
Thanks for all the kind words, and well wishes. I just walked into my home about an hour ago, and outside feeling a little shaky, and in a little pain, looks like my surgeon did a bang up job.
My surgeon was J. Caruso put me on a strict diet, and a 90 day prescription of Plavix, and told me not do anything that may cause me too bleed, like chasing a grizzly, or buffalo because I could bleed out very easily while on the plavix. My only problem, after surgery is my right ear is now completely numb. I can still hear with it, but everything outside is dead to the touch. Damn little price to pay in the place of a stroke, or death. Can’t shoot any heavy recoiling rifles or get in any fist fights with a Cape buffalo for a few months.

Reminds me of that old saying "with friends like you, who needs enemies?"

Rusty, would and Mike like to volunteer to be the first ones to shoot our new invention I shoed in a thread above?

Mac,
A superficial cutaneous sensory nerve to your right ear skin area has been traumatized, eh? Hopefully some or all of that will come back.
Give it a year or two to get back all you can in that little patch.

MacD37Well my surgeon just called and eased my wife's nerves some.(mine as well!)
He said as long as I wasn't having a problem breathing, and from the rest of my description, he said to call his office tomorrow, so he can work me in for an evaluation. Relieved!
This type situation is the reason I don't like going under the knife on a Friday, because the surgeon is out of pocket on a weekend. This guy called me right back though.

D R HunterMac, I hope you and the boys are perceiving my
humor. I just know at work when things were not
perfect for a guy, we tried to come up with
humorous ways to see the situation so everything
did not get all serious and subsequently
depressing for the guy going through the issue.
One time a guy came into work and told us when
he had arrived home the day before, that his wife,
his kids, and all their belongings were gone; and
HE was in shock.
Another guy hearing this dropped to his knees in
front of our sad co-worker and pleaded with him
saying, "PLEASE, TELL ME
HOW YOU DID IT !!!
Big laughs resulted by everyone including the main guy...

Duckear, I finally got in touch with my Surgeon, and met up with him so he could give me a quick evaluation to confirm or deny a leak in the artery repair! It was negative, and he said it was OK for me to drive, but not lift anything heavy. So I guess it is a GO on this one.
So I'll sign off on this now! Thanks for all the well wishes guys!

Snowhound, for the first few days I was still feeling the effects of the anesthetic , and the fact that they put me back on Plavix ( a strong blood thinner) that made me weak. The surgery was on Aug 2nd, and today on Aug 14 I have noticed a burst of energy. I say "BURST" but I'm in my 77th year of life, so maybe it is more like a little squirt!

Still I feel better than I have in years!
In any event if anyone is needing this procedure, I say get yourself a good surgeon and don't wait till you have a stroke!
