Looking for PG Hunt in South Africa or Namibia
A friend of mine is looking for a plainsgame hunt for him and his father July 2007 timeframe. This will be his first Africa trip and he is not that specific on wich species he wants. I'm thinking SA or Namibia. He wants 10 days of hunting but nothing specific beyond that.
So you outfitters and operators out there can you send me some info/prices that I can forward to him. Also if someone have any outfitters that they have hunted with and were happy with send me their info as well. Thanks.

Vaughan Fulton's Classic Safaris in Namibia. A whole bunch of unfenced land, great staff, plenty of game, great time to be had. My dad and I hunted there in 2004 for our first safari and absolutely loved it.

I hunted with Vaughan in 2004 and am going back in 2007. That says it all -good experience, good game and good PH. Prices are reasonable for fair chase on a large conservancy. Do it !!!!!

Might want to try Ntshonalanga Safaris in S.A.
I just got back in May (my 1st safari) and it was AWESOME. Haven't had time to post the pics. thought.
Would go back in a hearbeat. If you search for them (Ntshonalanga) on this site, you will see nothing but good reports on them. Saeed also has hunted with them in the past.
The main lodge you stay in is first rate. Only a couple of years old.
Drop me a P.M. if you like and i will give you more details.

Ntshonalanga Safaris

I'll second the endorsement for Peter Harris and Ntshonalanga Safaris. I've done both a pure plains game hunt, and an "all of the Big 5" hunt with them. Both were outstanding.

For the first timer Namibia is hard to beat ! "If you want". You can experience truly wild unfenced hunting at prices 25%-50% lower than other african countries. The bad news is most great outfitter/areas book up one or two years in advance, And July is the peak of the season. I think you will have a very hard time finding a good area /outfitter with July 07 open.

Find the best region for the animals they want. Then contact the outfitters in that area. Take your time and verify all claims! Ask for pictures of the hunting area, look at the trees, grass and if there is year round water. If your friends have to I would highly recommend postponing their hunt until 08, If that what it takes to book one of the better areas /guides.

Erik,
Look in Hunt Reports for the most recent Namibia from one of our AR members. I was at Kalahari Safari in July and can say you will have a great time and hunt.

Thanks for all the replies and PM's. I'm compiling the list and will have my friend start looking them over.

Try amanita@yebo.za which is the Amanita Safaris Email. I hunted in June and was very satisfied. They pick you up at the Jburg airport and treat you well. The PH was very knowledgeable and worked very hard for me.

Second (or third) the reference to the hunt reports here. I've got one up and would be happy to answer any questions (publicly or by private message).
