Domestic vs Int'l restrictions on guns in luggage
I'll be flying KLM to Africa this year out of Atlanta. I will be flying Delta in order to get to Atlanta.
KLM's policy on guns in your luggage says I will be allowed "one case containing up to four rifles" when I travel with them. When I check Delta's policy on guns, I read that I can transport "one rifle case containing two or fewer rifles."
Here's my problem. We'll be taking three rifles with us. Wanting to keep my luggage to a minimum, I'm planning on having all 3 guns in my Tuffpak. That all seems good to go on KLM, but not the short domestic flght with Delta.
Do any of you know a way to resolve this without having to take an extra gun case for the short portion of my trip?

you're second case solution makes sense, but I assume you'll have to have it for the delta leg on your return.

May just have to take 2 cases?

Either leave one of the guns home, or don't tell Delta about the third gun.

The airline reps do not usually handle the guns; they rely on you (except in Denver where the PD has to do the firearms inspection) to show that the rifles are unloaded.

be careful on delta any way you do it. We had lots of trouble with them before. such things as delaying luggage and changing seat assignments. We talked to SCI about it and they told us delta was one of the airlines they avoid, being right next to british air.
