CanuckI am looking forward to the pictures.

I imagine it has something to do with this...
http://zoonewsdigest.blogspot....-bears-in-dubai.html ... because I really can't imagine Saeed hunting polar bears anywhere that the temperature goes much below 0deg C!!

Cheers

OldsargeI don't believe polar bear are legal game in Alaska, guys. You can only hunt them in Canada . . .

Use Enough GunYou see, the polar bear killed Saeed, and then the PH killed the Polar bear. They then mounted Saeed's teeth in the Polar bear mount.

Precisely!
We are enjoying Easter school break on a tropical island, so I don't even to TALK about the -42 degrees I had to go through while getting this polar bear.
You all have to wait until the 12th, when I get home. I will photograph it and post for your pleasure.

06 April 2010, 00:36
OldsargeSaeed, you are a whole bunch more hard-core than I am. There isn't a trophy on the planet worth -42 as far as I am concerned. Seriously tough, bro!

drwesone of my best friends has a beautiful polar bear, he has it mounted life size in his great room and on his trip,, as Saeed said,, he almost froze to death,, that was 2 years ago and he has not recovered from the frost bite in his feet and still has areas that have no feeling. According to him, he has polar bear hunted twice,, his first and his last! In 2 weeks he will be in Camaroon Bongo hunting,,enough of the minus 40 weather.
you can make more money, you can not make more time

SaeedWalter came over yesterday, he brought a Daystate air rifle, he needed to fill with air.
Me "OK, put that rifle down, we need to take some photos with our polar bear"
Walter "First things first. I am going to get this rifle ready, then we can take pictures of YOUR polar bear"
The air rifle has a round magazine that fits vertically in the action. And by the looks of things, it did not look like it was going to clear the scope as he installs.
Walter "Typical British brains! They made the rifle where the scope won't fit!"
Me "I thought you said it was made in Germany?"
Walter "The Germans made a working design. The British ruined it"
Me "All I have to do is look at your Blaser and get the exact opposite view. You Kroats over engineer everything to death"
Walter "It is too bad you spent so many years in England to get brainwashed. Us German's are the best engineers in the world. Can I have a scope to put on this rifle. A SMALL one please"
I went and got him a Leupold 3-9x33 scope and gave it to him.
And by hook or by crook, Walter did install it. Trouble was, now the magazine was very hard to puit in and take out, let alone that it would rotate so it can work.
Me "How are you going to use that rifle now? The magazine is so tight under that scope it won't work."
Walter "It will. It just needs some muscle to operate. Can I have some pellets?"
I gave him a box of pellets. Then I saw he was looking for a rubber mallet.
"What are you going to do?"
" I am going to get this stupid magazine out"
"And how do you plan to put back in again?"
"The same way I get it out"
"You mean hammer it in, and hammer it out?"
"Yes"
"Hang on, hang on, don't do that. Change the scope"
The Leupold scope had a sort of ring in the middle where the turrets are, which extended a couple of mm below the tube.
I went and got him a Bushnell scope, which did not have this projection.
He removed the Leupold scope, and installed the Bushnell.
Now it was time to charge the cylinder with air. Trouble is, Walter is scared of anything that has high air pressure. He has a phobia about it. So I thought I would add to his fear.
He had an adaptor that fits on a diving tank.
"I will get the diving tank from upstairs"
"NO NO, we better take the rifle up to the diving tank. I don't like to have a high pressure diving tank in this room under ground"
We took the rifle up to the diving tank. I put the adaptor on it, without tightning it very well.
Walter was holding the rifle - the hose wasn't very long - and I was untightning the valve on the tank.
As the air started to go in, we could hear a slight leak.
"STOP, STOP."
I stopped.
"What is the matter?"
"I can hear a leak"
"I cannot hear anything leak. You are dreaming again"
"You are deaf, that is why. There is a leak"
"There is no bloody LEAK. Just hold it"
And I started to open the valve again. And the same leak could be heard.
"STOP, STOP"
"What is wrong now?" Walter was covered in sweat.
"I HATE things with high pressure. I am afraid it will blow up in my face"
"Why don't you go down and get yourself a drink. I will fill up the rifle"
"That is a great idea. I will listen to the BIG BANG and come to collect what is left of you later"
I tightened the air hose, and filled up the air rifle, and took it down to him.
"Here you are, it is full. 220 Bars"
He spent the rest of the afternoon shooting his air rifle, and nothing would get him to come and take photos with me of the polar bear.
"You know people are waiting to see photos of this bear."
"They can wait a little longer. This will built all this to a great climax"

Saeed now taking direction from Walter? WOW! Looks like AR is headed for the other side of the Safari looking glass, and is now under direction of Walter, a.k.a. the "Mad Hatter" of AR.
We happen to have our own spies in the UAE, and an unnamed source has provided us with an advance photo procured in secret immediately after the un-crating:
That is certainly a taxidermy job "without compare".

Well, we managed to take photos of our polar bear mount yesterday.
It was Roy and Alan's last day with us - they all left this morning.
In fact, Walter and Roy took the bear for a "walk".
I will post pictures tomorrow.
Pictures have been added!

That's a nice looking bear rug Saeed!
I don't think most of us were expecting an actual bear rug.

What is the story?
12 May 2010, 21:56
J.R.JacksonVery impressive
Now that a second polar/brown bear has been taken we'll have to ask each hunter 'was it a hybrid ?'
Saeed's does look like a true polar bear.
