Tragic for the kids to first loose their mother then Uncle then father. They should be in their late teens by now if not twenty's. Does anyone know if his mother is still with us?

When we visited in January, he said his mother was doing fine, living in an independent living type setting, I believe fairly close to Ian and his sister's area. Prayers for the lady. Every mother's nightmare, no matter what age. Surely Ian's sister will be with her.

Sad news. I wish the best for his family. May he RIP.

In January I took him to Best Buy by my house. He wanted to buy some things for his sister and, I believe, one of his daughters. He loved wandering about a store and by now, I knew how long he'd take, so I told him I'd drive down the strip mall, pop into the liquor store for refreshments and come back and get him. (I detest Best Buy.) When I came back, I looked and looked, but couldn't find him anywhere. I figured he must have gotten impatient and started off down the strip to find me. As I was walking out I heard a hyena call. I instantly knew it was him, standing over in the Customer Service line. All the customers behind him were wide-eyed and laughing. I informed him that he was in the Customer Service line and not the check out line. He then informed me how "shocking" the help was there. (A point of which I'd warned him about before we went in.)

I realized tonight that I'd never hear that particular hyena call, ever again (on this side of the river).

I was lucky enough to have Ian as my PH for my two safaris (2001 & 2004). He also stayed with me in Sunset Beach a few days while in between safari shows in Jan 2002. He was a ton of fun wherever he was and really enjoyed life. Ian really loved his kids and on my 2004 safari, after we had taken my buffalo, his kids would go out with us on our hunt. They were great at spotting game and really enjoyed being out there with their dad. We all had a great time.

My wife and I have so many great memories of our safari, many of which were a result of Ian's great sense of humor and knowledge of the area/wildlife. Even though I haven't spoken with Ian for quite a while, I always considered him a life long friend. He will truly be missed.

When I went in 2010 I asked Gibbo if I could bring him anything. He asked for peanut M&Ms. So I hit Costco before we left. He rationed them pretty pretty hard.
