Lion population threat

Reuters.
NAIROBI. — Kenya’s lion population could disappear altogether in the next 20 years because of climate change, habitat destruction, disease and conflict with humans, the country’s wildlife authority said yesterday.
Lions are one of the so-called Big Five along with elephants, buffaloes, leopards and rhinos that are the major tourist attraction in Kenya’s game parks.
Kenya, heavily reliant on tourist dollars, lost an average 100 lions in each of the last seven years; from 2 749 lions in 2002, to some 2 000 of the big cats now, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said. "The trend of lion population decline is disturbing and every effort needs to be made to ensure that Kenya either stabilises its population or increases the numbers . — Reuters.

gbangerClimate change? To quote Jack Nicholson, "Go sell crazy some where else, we're all stocked up here."
Well, at least thinking people can't blame it on hunting!

OldHandgunHunterWhenever I see either "climate change" or "global warming" (always meaning anthropologic global warming) in the first sentence, I know that what I'm reading is pure, unadulterated, BS from a political junkie spewing propoganda.

jdollarwell, since Al Gore and B. H. Obama are going to reverse global warming, things will definitely improve in the near future.

The only thing "climate change" is going to do is make the hair slip faster after the Masai spear and poison them!!!

Gerrypeters375At least they are not blaming sport hunters -for a change. Oh, I forgot! There is no sport hunting for lions in Kenya. And yet they are declining? Gee, how can that be? All proper thinking people know that sport hunting is evil, evil, evil and always responsible for declining numbers of any species on the planet. I love that "conflict with humans" phrase. (Translation - farmers are killing them because lions must have figured out that if farmers insist on living right next door (by constant expansion into lion country)that it's a lot easier to whack some cow than trying to run down a gazelle. It's sad all around.

cable68I am starting to wonder if all the hot air being blown about climate change is actually starting to cause global warming.
