That stuff works but I think what you will find is that it being a fine mesh that thorns etc. will catch in it and all manner of stuff may become attached to you.

They might be good for those evenings overlooking the river with a sundowner in hand.

G,

You buy a camping spray something like pyrithin you spray shirts and pants...Lasts for multiple washings...Also stay away from dark colors but do not go to the light tan looks white...
3M ultrathon cream bug repellant...The creams last longer then sprays...

I sell and USE Shannon Bug Tamer Plus clothing. It worked for me on three safaris and I have used it to act as camo during turkey and deer seasons in west Texas.
Lots of my customers use it and most have ordered more or had their friends purchase it too.

You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

Buy a can or two of Permathon(spelling) at Wal-mart in the camping area.Spray it on your clothes and let dry lasts for about two weeks. It will kill ticks and other nasties that crawl on your clothes. Keeps flying insects from landing on your clothes and staying long enough to bite. Great Stuff

I used the Ex Officio Bug-Off Baja shirt and light zip-off pants on my last trip to Tanz. They were light-weight and good for the warmer weather, although I think they offer a heavier material for the shirts. I personally do not like cotton, even for Africa. Although I did not wear them everyday, in my opinion they would hold up well and I have never had problems with the synthetics in the bush, noting they of course do not provide the protection or warmth (without layering) that a heavier cotton material would.

Oh yea, they offer some level of bug repellence too! Big Grin

Like Bill C, I used the Ex-Officio Bugg off outifit including shirt, hat, pants and socks.

We got bit by tetse's on bare arms when not wearing the long sleeve shirt, and lower legs that were unprotected. Went through two bottles of DEET in a week in a heavy tetse area.

The Ex-Officio outfit worked well.

I used a blue shirt and would suggest the pale green instead. Zip off pants and hat (both brown) a good color. Socks were white and if they had another color Iwould get them next time.

LL Bean is offering their "tropic wear" Shirts , pants, and shorts with Buzz Off and they are about 2/3's the cost of the Ex Officio
Buzz off clothes. They offer Ex Officio as well.

Orvis offers a tough Cotton field shirt with Buzz Off....at Orvis prices but good hunting colors.

I buy a quart of permethrin from the WalMart garden dept. which is 2.5%, thin it to .5% with water in a garden sprayer then hang all of my clothes outside and mist them until damp, allow to dry and pack. For exposed skin I use AVON SSS Bug Guard IR3535 SPF 30 Cool 'N Fabulous. I've never had any problems w/ mosquitoes, tset-tse, mopanes, black flies, ticks, or sunburn even though I burn easily and have been in some areas thick w/ insects.

I've used Orvis pants and shirts for a couple of years in BC. Mossys so thick you can't see through them and no see ems that clog your throat.

The stuff works well. thumb

I like the thicker shirts. Buy them on ebay for half price.

Thanks to all.

Sounds like some favorable experience, combined with several additional proven options.

FYI: I just got home to find that I recieved the Green Bug-off coolmax socks ( and other stuff)I ordered from Orvis>>BIG SALE<<. I will test them extensively this summer during black Fly season in MI, and report back.

Thanks again.
