T.CarrThe Sky is Falling
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The sky isn't really falling, actually things are great.
Remember a few weeks ago when we were hit with several topics that became quite controversial? We had Trolls among us, we had Troll baiting, we had Members calling for new rules.
Well, as I said then, things have a way of smoothing themselves out.
You would not believe the amount of money Saeed has turned down from people wanting to advertise on AR or wanting to buy the email list of our Members. What we have, as Members and Moderators, is a responsibility to treat this privilege as a true gift and be supportive and helpful.
We have seen a huge influx of New Members since the Free Buffalo Hunt was announced. Just remember when you were a New Member and how appreciative you were of responses to your first few posts.
To our New Members, I would suggest you use the Search Function to gain some background information then post your question.
I will admit that I occasionally become philosophical, but my whole point in making this post is to point out that AR means something to me. It should mean something to you and you should do what you can to make this site informative, friendly and helpful.
I will now step down from the bully pulpit.
Regards,
Terry

Good show old man. Bully pulpet indeed.
Terry: Well said. My respect for AR started with Saeed's honesty and extremely fair management of the forum, and without censorship. People who are not playing fair usually show themselves sooner or later (ballbuster and that guy from kentucky...just strange). I have been participating since 2000 and I have to admit, AR has grown into something that is both amazing and highly respected throughout the world....and like Saeed himself, most of the moderators, you in particular and Canuck, and others, are extremely professional and helpful, and make AR what it is....a world class organization...and it always makes me feel guilty and stupid when I encage in arguments when I shouldn't...
Saeed has my respect, and so do you, Canuck, Pete E, and others that help make this place what it is. I am absolutley stunned by AR's acomplishments and like everyne esle, we all thrilled for Retreever, and what that represents for him and how that expresses what AR stand for.
Your sentiments are shared by many.

RBHuntI don't always agree with everything that is posted here, and I am sure everyone does not agree with everything I post here, but one thing for sure, if there is a better forum than this one anywhere in the world, I have yet to find it.

retreeverTerry, amen to that, and to all, I have forged many friendships. They are not all face to face, a lot are puter to puter...Disagreements yes, opinions yes, but respect for each other...I've had the priviledge and oportunity to go and meet fellow hunters, be it a chance meeting at the airport in Zim, or here in North America at the Dallas convention.. you can see the friendships forming, with the sharing of knowledge and answering of questions, again, in person or on the website.
I took this bonding and sharing of knowledge to a new level when I was picked to win the buff raffle. I am still in shock...this forum is allowing me to fulfill a lifetime dream. If only I had the words to thank everyone involved..they will come, I'm sure. While in the Selous, I will be with you all in spirit and will do my best to share everything...

surestrikeI must agree for the most part. But I've got to tell you I almost never made a second post on this sight due to the unmittigated rudeness of some of our members.
We lose a lot of good people before they ever get started.
People need to know that this is an unmoderated sight and anything goes. Without that info this can be a cold and unforgiving place to be a new member.
And even with it's flaws it is the best big game hunting sight in the world.

Sendero300It's amazing the wealth of information that is on this site. I went for awhile and didn't post here but if I wanted to know about something I would just do a search.
I've said it before but many thanks Saeed and all the moderators who make this site what it is.

The AR forum reminds me a bit of my first day at High School //
On my first day as a newbe kid I was somewhat overawed at the number of kids at the school and they were so knowledgible, some were bullies, others comics, some grumpy, and some downright rude ....
Well as time passed, the bullies got put in their place and the excitment of the challenge to learn took over, one can never know it all and we will keep learning from others no matter what. Just as long as we are prepared to be nice to others, life will in return one day do the same
Of course the trolls and reprebates will challenge the forums integrity from time to time and bait our guests into confrontation ... BUT they will NEVER beat the majority whom are here for the ride and to learn from others of like interest
It goes without saying that Saeed and his (merry band of rogues) are the heartbeat of the forum, and with the other overworked underpaid leaders moderators and willing servants, you guys have created something to be really proud of
Have a wonderful wonderful day wherever you are in the world, and remember that no matter what you me or any others might say or moan about, the sun will alawys shine on someone somewhere in the world the next day

I so wish I had a nice way with words, to adequately and eloquently thank Terry and the other moderators for a job well done. So I'll just add my simple "Thank you very much." to the list of people who really appreciate what the behind the screen boys are doing.
As others, I don't always agree with the opinions expressed, and, despite the occasional unwelcome snide remark about hunting in South Africa from some members, I will keep on coming back to AR to see if there is some question that I can answer. Usually I find that it already has been quite adequately replied to by other quicker helpful members.
In good hunting.
