NzouHi Farktoof, thank you for the link, haven't read much of it yet, but looks like there is some interesting reading in that report. If mass culling goes ahead in Kruger, I am sure that it will make for some interesting animal behavioural studies for a Phd student or such. I understand some of the difficulties involved, and that breeding herds will have to be targetted, but with that comes some problems, which are accurately described in the report.
I think that ellies in the park will become either quite skittish or aggressive for quite a while afterwards. I believe that in the Addo Elephant park, with the very small founder population, it took quite a while before it was safe for vehicles to be allowed into the park! Interestingly, those ellies are now some of the most relaxed ellies in human presence that I have ever seen in Southern Africa (in vehicles at least).
